Vista on 64bit intel Mac....
-
I'm trying to install Vista 64 bit on my Apple Quad Core (@ work) Instalation failed... (Something about windows can't boot my hard drive, and there is no appropriate disk available) Right now we are installing MacOSX again, with the hope that boot camp will enable us to install Vista 64 bits. But I have little hope (I'm a mac-sceptic). Now I wonder, does anyone have similar experience and some tips to share with us?

I know that the Intel Mac uses Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), not traditional BIOS. Windows Vista doesn't yet support EFI IIRC - it's certainly not going to be supported for 32-bit Windows Vista and I think I remember seeing that support is coming for x64 EFI in Vista SP1. In order to boot an OS expecting to be booted from a traditional BIOS, a machine with EFI needs BIOS emulator code. The Mac doesn't have this in ROM, so presumably this is part of Boot Camp.
Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder
