I just downloaded a SDK as DVD image file (.img). Now I would like to use without burning a DVD. How do I do that?

You can get "Daemon tools" to mount your img file on a virtual drive. then get isobuster to see the internals. However the site wil tel you if its compatible with vista

Try http://www.alcohol-soft.com/[^] The 52% version is free.

I think extractnow (Google it) will just decompress the files for you into a directory the name of the .img. Last time I used it I thought I used it on an .img file. The price is right and it does the trick.

lies....lies and blasphemy http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5[^] look for the second fram-lloking thingy from the top, DAEMON Tools 4.08 X64 . has the x64 version including for vista. at least they advertise it to be compatible. DAEMON Tools 4.08 X86 worked on vista32bit, so i would assume they made sure DAEMON Tools 4.08 X64 works on vista64bit.

ho.. ok, cool! I will remember it for later... meanwhile Acohol 52% solved my problem... Well it's also their fault, they hide the x64 version at the bottom of the page! ;)

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5 The 64-bit version is below the first download box. You do not need ISOBuster or any similar software to mount and use the DVD image. Simply install Daemon Tools, select mount image, and presto! A DVD drive in My Computer that acts just like a real one. If there appears to be some kind of protection scheme, just enable Daemon Tool's emulation; it almost always works.

Change the extension from .img to .iso - and use the normal burners! It always worked for me.
