Anyone going to buy a PS3 console? Or do you already have a PS3? Pity about the hefty $1000 price tag.:(

I can think of 663 other things I'd rather spend 663 euro on. One of them would be a Wii. I'd even put an XBox 360 before the PS3 at that price. An Apple TV and an HD-DVD player would probably cost less too. (I don't own a console though and probably won't until I have kids.)

Haha they're saying its going to be the biggest launch ever because theres so many units avalible lol. I'm sure a console that costs as much as a Wii/360 combo is going to sell well :P I mean why buy 2 other consoles when you can have just the one. Loads of the release games have been pushed back too and most of the interesting ones wern't exclusives either. Old alliences are being broken and sony doesn't have the power it once did.

I just picked one up Wednesday night. My project for tonight is to install http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/ydl/[^] on it. No wireless support in the Linux side yet, but they are working with Sony :) I downloaded Go! Sudoku this morning. That's a lot of fun. My game for the system is Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. Fantastc game so far! Looks to be every bit as immersive as Morrowind was. The other games I'm looking at getting later are Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Virtua Fighter 5, MotorStorm and flOw. The main games I'm looking forward to this fall are Mercenaries 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Final Fantasy XIII. Spider-Man 3 (out in May) looks excellent as well. Forgot to mention that Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out next year. I'll likely disappear for awhile when it comes out, heh. Even my wife, the non-gamer, is waiting for it (she doesn't play them, but she loves watching me play Metal Gear). Flynn -- modified at 19:53 Friday 23rd March, 2007

Except for me it was more a continuing relationship as I already have several dozen games for both the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. So, the backward compatability was pretty important. It became more important when Sony announced that the new units shipping to Europe and Australia with software instead of hardware emulation. I wouldn't put it past Sony (or any company, really) to quietly introduce the same labotimized systems in the Japanese and US markets over the next few months. So I knew I was planning to get one anyway -- that was just the last push I needed to lay the money down now instead of this fall. Flynn
