Pentagon: 15 British troops detained by the Iranian navy. No details yet, probably soon. I had no idea they even had a Navy  here's the link: Clickety[^]

Should make Saturday's UN Security Coucil meeting(vote on sanctions) quite interesting.

If that isn't an act of war, I don't know what is. Sounds like Iran is actually spoiling for a fight.

100 years ago the British would have sent in the gunboats... now they send in Margaret Beckett[^]. No wonder they think they can do what they like and get away with it.

Frankly, I think she's scarier. Uggh. Mind you, we could always send John Prescott in as well. Hopefully they'd keep him.

Doh, just realized that I misread it. I thought it said British Navy, now I get it.

They have lots of fast attack craft, minelayers and a load of anti ship missiles, not a blue water navy but pretty capable of making a mess of commercial traffic in the Gulf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Earnest_Will[^]

They've also got several Russian diesel electric subs which may or may not still work. They have a reputation of failing very rapidly when exported.

-- CleaKO The sad part about this instance is that none of the users ever said anything [about the problem]. Pete O`Hanlon Doesn't that just tell you everything you need to know about users?
