Yes it really is that good. The writing is superb, the acting is incredible and quite remarkable for such a large cast, whoever did the casting deserves whatever awards they give out for that. As a side bonus for a sci fi fan like me it's set in space but thats co-incidental entirely, if the story was set in the middle ages it would lose nothing. Honestly I haven't seen a movie, read a book or watched anything else on tv in I can't remember how long that holds a candle to it in any way. I've never seen 'to catch a predator' or the Gene Simmons one so I'll have to reserve judgement on that. ;) Seriously, if you haven't seen it they have the dvd's of all the first two seasons at most video stores.

OK, sounds like I need to add it to my Amazon order then :-)

So is that "lost in thought for an hour after each episode" good, "laughed my ass off but can't remember a single plot point" good, or "cliffhanger overload they're never gonna actually end this ridiculously long arc are they" good... (this is a serious question - i haven't watched it yet)

They are definitely ending it next season or the one after. The story line can't support an open ended series and they've stated so. It's more of a lost in thought good than anything else, but also the sort of good you get when you are completely absorbed by the story and the hour goes by so fast you wish it were longer.

I haven't seen the finale myself, but the general reaction from long time fans seems to be "jumping the shark good".

My husband has recently gotten into Battlestar Galactica. He ordered the last season from eBay and watching it in 2 days.

I love it, but I am glad it is ending. I think this last season wasted too much time becoming a soap-opera. I was glad to see that they hadn't lost their touch with the season finale.

I know where you're coming from, but I don't agree. You're probably on the "action" side of the fence, it's not really that kind of show, the action is only there to support the story and character development. That being said they do damn good action. ;)

Wow! All the hyperbole surrounding this show is completely justified. To say it's the best show on tv isn't giving it enough credit. No one is making TV anything like this right now.

It just kills me though, especially after seeing the Season 3 finale, that there will be no more new episodes until 2008. :( :( :( I guess it's understandable since the production value is so high, but damn -- the teaser didn't even say *when* in 2008 it would return. :(

I noticed in the episode immediately after Kara died -- the BSG intro (the same intro they always have) -- was missing "Katee Sackhoff" in the credits -- it just was not there in its normal spot when the nuke hits Caprica with 6 and Boltar standing there and the windows get blown out. I noticed since I had the episodes on my TiVo and compared them. Then in the finale, they didn't do the normal intro at all (first time ever I think) -- and no Katee mention at all -- but at the very end -- after it was all said and done -- it showed her credit. Clever.

I really really love tihs show, best show since firefly. Its very dark, deep and rips along at a great pace. The way characters flip is great; ex-drug runner identity theif to hero great. The UK is a few weeks behind US it seems on this show.

Well that's spoiled it for those of us in the UK who haven't seen it yet. Thanks a bunch. You could at least have put a plot spoiler notice on the Subject.

You lucky people! I have to wait until it comes out on DVD because in the UK it's only shown on Sky One and I can only afford Freeview :( (which doesn't come with Sky One, although it does come with Sky Three, but by the time BSG appears on there the next season's DVDs have come out!)

The carrot is not being perpetually held out there in front of you... it's definitely moving along. I read once that the entire concept of the series, from the original pilot, to the end of the series, was preconceived... from beginning to ultimate end... however I don't know if that is true or not. It makes sense though, given things that have popped up over the seasons... very subtle stuff that had to have been planned out from seeds that were planted very, very early on -- even from the original t.v. movie pilot. It just kills me though, especially after seeing the Season 3 finale, that there will be no more new episodes until 2008. :( :( :( I guess it's understandable since the production value is so high, but damn -- the teaser didn't even say *when* in 2008 it would return. :(

I know where you're coming from, but I don't agree. You're probably on the "action" side of the fence, it's not really that kind of show, the action is only there to support the story and character development. That being said they do damn good action. ;)

Not really. I just thought the love triangles, the people stuck in an airlock, and the poor Lt Agathon stuff were trite and un-origional. Nor did I think it contributed to the story much. I mean we already knew about apollo and starbuck. Watching those episodes was like listing to the same old song over and over. I guess the previous 2 seasons had set higher standards for me. I really liked the finale, it was smart and compelling. -- modified at 11:56 Tuesday 27th March, 2007
