    I am working on just a test right now, but does anyone know if it is possible to use session variables from an aspx page to pass information to an asp .net web servie sitting in the same web app? the idea is to make the user authenticate to a website, then allow them to use a smartclient that requires web authentication for the service to function.

      Very well you can use Session object in webservice that has been passed by a web application.
