My first Microsoft technet evert

Microsoft sent an email inviting me to a Technet event in Chattanooga. Since it's about a 30 minute drive for me I decided I will attend. If you guys go to any of these events do you take anything with you, such as notebook or legal pad or anything to write down things you hear, or do you take nothing? Also if anybody is close to Chattanooga Tennessee the date of it is April 26.

I don't think you'll be writing down too much stuff - they are most likely going to do a Powerpoint presentation in a dark room (for the projector). But it might be 2 hours long - the one I went to in Toronto was that long. So you may want to take a Coke or a bottle of water with you.

I've been to a lot of TechEvents, and you won't be needing any writing materials. They'll usually provide something for you. You also won't be getting treated to any detailed technical info - just high-level stuff, mostly about what's new and cool. If there's something new coming down the line, you'll probably be among the first to know, and that's a lot of fun. I've always had a great time, but I can't say that I've ever learned anything of great value. It is, though, an excellent event for the price, and you'll meet a lot of the players in your market. Well worth the time to attend... Have fun!:-D

I take nothing. Microsoft supply a pen and notepad. Actually, what they supply is up to the local subsidiary. Microsoft UK choose to supply a TechNet branded pen and a notepad. Curiously, I discovered that at the last event that they supplied an incompatible notepad with the pen. So, maybe it is wise to take something.

Seriously. Either the ball point on the pen didn't produce enough friction against the paper to dispense the ink or the paper was too shiny. Either way, they didn't work with each other. Other pens worked with the notepad and the pen worked in other notepads, but just not with each other. Very weird.
