    1. Serenity 2. Star Wars 3. Blade Runner 4. Planet of the Apes 5. The Matrix 6. Alien 7. Forbidden Planet 8. 2001: A Space Odyssey 9. The Terminator 10. Back to the Future According to a survey by SFX[^] magazine on the BBC[^] news website. Pretty much my top 10 other than that I would have had Planet of the Apes at number 2 as an extraordinarily different film (the book upon which the film is based is excellent).

        This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard... As far as stupidity goes, this ranks right up there with BRAVO's "Top 100 Funniest Movies of All Time." Napoleon Dynamite was number 1(ARE YOU KIDDING ME!), Monty Python and The Holy Grail was number 40, Blazing Saddles was number 25, Clueless was number 10! Just ludicrous, who ever votes for these things should be lined up and shot...

        I win because I have the most fun in life...

          I love Firefly and its movie, Serenity. Firefly is easily my favorite TV show of all time. But honestly, the movie was only good if you were invested in the characters already by watching the TV show. It is laughable to think of it as the best sci-fi movie ever. I don't think it deserves to be in the top 10. And I love the movie, and my number one wish list movie is for Joss & Co. to scrape together enough resources to do a sequel. The original Star Wars deserves it on so many levels: simple, classic storyline, incredible special effects for the time, redefined the way movies are made, one of the biggest cultural impacts ever made by a film, and it just simply works as a great movie regardless of genre.

            Serenity? You got to be kidding me. It wasn't that bad a movie, but it's instantly forgettable. Blade Runner is the greatest sci-fi movie ever.

                  Serenity is one of my favourite movies but against 2001: A Space Odessey, Balde Runner and The Matrix? Hmm - tough call.

                  cheers, Chris Maunder

                            Is this the original Planet of the Apes or the recent remake. If it is the recent one then that is the only film I do not agree with on the list and feel Dune should be placed there instead!!

                              you should.:^) Started from a show called FireFly, got cancelled, made bunch o' monnies on DVD sales, made a movie called Serenity. 'Indiana Jones in space' is a good call, although 'Deadwood meets Red Dwarf + awesomeness' could qualify. I live in Belgium, and there is no way our stupid TV companies are ever going to air a cancelled TV-show. But it is the greatest show ever. And the movie diserves the credit.

                                      Visual Studio can't evaluate this, can you? public object moo { __get { return moo; } __set { moo = value; } }
