John Edward's $400 haircut[^] made me think about this topic. I normally spend $14 (including $2 tip) which I consider way too expensive. The least I have spent is Rs. 10 (20 cents) and the maximum $25 (got cheated).

In Trivandrum, I always went to the same place (the last few years I was there) and it was INR 60 (approx USD 1.4). You don't tip for hair cuts in Kerala. In Toronto, it was around CAD 16 (with tip) (approx USD 14). Here in Atlanta, I've only had two - each time around USD 17 (with tip). The best experience was in Trivandrum. I vaguely remember in Mt View, my friend taking me to the next town for a cheap hair cut ($7 or so) and he didn't let me tip either - he was very careful about money :-)

Usually 9 EUR, but prices easily rise up to 30 EUR for males. And my sister never spends less than 25 EUR. I used to think it was a lot, but then I recalled how horrible were the haircuts that my father gave us when we were children, and I figured out that probably experience is worth this money.

Max: probably around $20 w/tip. Min: something like $8 w/ tip. Unless you count the haircuts i give myself from time to time, where i'd have to prorate the cost of razors, ridicule, and such...

When I was in The Air Force, I had haircuts in Okinawa (65 cents US, 1971), Philippines (85 cents US, 1972), Thailand (35 cents US, 1971, 1972, 1975). Most of the barbers were women, and they were excellent. Many of the haircuts at the time were razor-cut (very expensive nowadays). Currently I spend $14 plus $2 tip in the DFW area in Texas. But i have to say, the Asian barbers were the best, plus it included a 30 second neck and shoulder massage). God those ladies had great hands!!

Least was free, combination of chemotherapy and Mum let loose with a shaver.  Most was £18  when Mum wanted me to try out somewhere else, expensive.  After having short hair from the chemo I think I'll keep it like that, nice and manageable.

$5000 Cost of daughter's tuition for beauty school for which she owes me free hair cuts for life. The actual cost has been declining since I've gotten several haircuts and much of that was tax deductible. (Which is the reason I paid the tuition and she paid all her other bills, though actual practice didn't always follow theory.) (Now if I can only get my daughter to cut John Edwards' hair.)

Maximum: $18 Minimum: $0 (sort of) My haircuts for the last several years have been essentially free(*), because I cut my own hair. I run the clippers over my scalp every couple of weeks. (*) Ignoring the one-time cost of the clippers, which was about $30 at Wal-Mart. My hairline started receding when I was in my mid-20's, and what was left started thinning in my early 30's. My current philosophy on hair is:

If you haven't got it, flaunt it.

                    :sigh:

Ever? About 15 cents minimum for a brush cut as a kid in the 1960s and $20 maximum with tip for more recent cuts.

John Edward's $400 haircut[^] made me think about this topic. I normally spend $14 (including $2 tip) which I consider way too expensive. The least I have spent is Rs. 10 (20 cents) and the maximum $25 (got cheated).

It really depends on what you need/want. My hair takes a lot of looking after, so I'll only go back to a salon where I know the stylist will do what I'm looking for (lots don't, BTW). I typically I spend between £28-£42 per session (depending on what treatments I go for) on hair styling. The latter includes a conditioning treatment which costs about £15 per session, but seems to work really well. :) Of course I usually end up with the salon manager or senior stylist at the salon. That costs more, of course.

If I remember correctly, this is from WingCommander III... back in the old days. Marc Hamiltons quite unsuccessfull try to regain attention... as a computer game character ;). Am I correct? Nice motto though. Greetings, Ralph

Quite right! It's from the fourth episode, but I played them all. Episode III and IV were impressive games for the time, and sure they were thrilling for a nine-years-old boy :-D I have yet to find a modern computer game like those. Space combat sims now all seem to adopt the strategic approach, which I find extremely boring... give me lots of enemies, some plot, amazing sceneries and a few missiles!
