Cause mines gone. :sigh: Satellite tracking cant find it. The police are next to useless. It's not just that they stole the car. It's everything that was in the car. My girlfriends PC, ALL my CD's (was a massive collection), My work laptop (thankfully I'm one of the few people at my work that actually backs up every now and then) and my work shoes. THEY COULD HAVE LEFT THE SHOES! *SIGH* Yes, it's insured but they'll only pay out in a month, to give the tracking company and the police time to find it (yea right) and even then it'll only be market value and I still owe a fair amount. Sorry, just a bit of a rant. I loved that car. :sigh:

Sorry to hear that. My sympathy to you. Hope they either manage to find it, or the thieves return it (hey, I've heard of that happening before...)

I left the Laptop in the boot. I put it in so i didn't forget it when I went to work. Insurance will cover it as long as it is in the boot. The PC was just because of idleness on my part. We were supposed to take it back to my girlfriends place the previous night and were too lazy to do it. It's just, you don't expect the car to get stolen. You shouldn't have to live your life expecting the worst all the time. Plus the car has got an alarm, immobiliser and satellite tracking. (fat lot of good those did)

Thanks man. I don't think they'll find it. If the satellite tracking didn't pick it up after an hour I'm sure they've disabled the tracking unit and either stripped the car or gotten across the border into Swaziland or Lesotho by now.

Fair enough... My car has none of these, i'm going for the dented crappy car look, in the hope that they won't bother. I remember seeing a show where the most up to date security system Audi could devise was beaten in under 15 seconds by a (retired) professional car theif... After that, I figured, what's the point...

He knew what the type of car was going to be, so he hired one the week before, dismantled the lock and made himself a wee tool to get through it... Bit like decompiling a car...

I think that's probably what they did with my car. There was no glass or anything like that.

I find it repugnant that this is a fair question in this time and age. Not long ago a thief who smashed a cars window and stole the laptop on the backseat was released because (the car was an undercover police car) the crime was provoked. :sigh:

Over here if the car's crappy they target it because it's easier to steal :) In fact - I think they'll just take whatever they want. Expensive or not.

No. I haven't. So its probably not in Germany But ill ask my brother to look out for it - he is in Stellenbosch until June. ;) You have my sympathy. My old Fiat Uno, the first car I have bought from my own money, was stolen and later found burned to the ground. I (better: my insurance) even had to pay the disposal - with the silly advice to get the money from the one who did it. Of course no one was ever caught.

VW-locks are easy to open with just a screwdriver. Just force it in the lock hole and turn.

Outside a friends place in Alberton. The neighbourhood isn't bad at all.

Anyone seen a metallic green VW polo classic?

No.

Failure is not an option - it's built right in.

                                      :) Thanks.

:sigh:

Sorry to hear about that. If they had any sense (the thieves) they will have driven the car into a metal container to block the tracking signals then tried to remove it.

Thanks. Ya, they're pretty clued when it comes to beating all the security systems. It's frustrating. The scary thing is - that car was probably on their shopping list; if they couldn't steal the car from the side of the road they probably would have just hi-jacked my girlfriend and I instead.
