Anyone seen a metallic green VW polo classic?

Sorry to hear about that. If they had any sense (the thieves) they will have driven the car into a metal container to block the tracking signals then tried to remove it.
Thanks. Ya, they're pretty clued when it comes to beating all the security systems. It's frustrating. The scary thing is - that car was probably on their shopping list; if they couldn't steal the car from the side of the road they probably would have just hi-jacked my girlfriend and I instead.

Cause mines gone. :sigh: Satellite tracking cant find it. The police are next to useless. It's not just that they stole the car. It's everything that was in the car. My girlfriends PC, ALL my CD's (was a massive collection), My work laptop (thankfully I'm one of the few people at my work that actually backs up every now and then) and my work shoes. THEY COULD HAVE LEFT THE SHOES! *SIGH* Yes, it's insured but they'll only pay out in a month, to give the tracking company and the police time to find it (yea right) and even then it'll only be market value and I still owe a fair amount. Sorry, just a bit of a rant. I loved that car. :sigh:
No Wonder they Nicked it with all that Gear in it! If ever you placed an advert to nick a car it would be some thing like that! I do feel for you though it is a terrible world that we live in where things just can't be left alone! They tried to break into my car the other day, Damaged the door, but didn't get in, but really buggered the door up, so it's gonna cost me a hundred quid excess to get it fixed, just because some crack head can't help himself!!
Kind Regards, Gary

Dontcha worry. Everything listed is here (You forgot to mention the cinnamon toasties pack and a couple of fresh baked vegetable rolls) *evil grin* BTW what is the password for this PC? I don't want to format it and install the OS and then install the....

Thanks man. I don't think they'll find it. If the satellite tracking didn't pick it up after an hour I'm sure they've disabled the tracking unit and either stripped the car or gotten across the border into Swaziland or Lesotho by now.

Curse you! Bring my baby back!

You can keep those. They were two weeks old already.

Dude. Those shoes were 10 years old (and in surprisingly good condition) and molded to my foot's shape. If they fit your feet then I'd be worried.

Thanks man. The problem is it always happens to ME. Maybe it's Karma...

I always go for run-of-the-mill cars with common colours and not too big an engine, that way I don't stand out from the crowd. Hope they catch them with extreme prejudice.

It was one of those laser keys. Either way the alarm should have sounded.

Are those they keys with the grooves on either side? If it was, they are easy to beat. For example, in a BMW X3, due to production tolerances, there are only 16 different "sections" that a key can consist of. All they do is insert a measuring key (which will always fit) and measure which sections they need. That takes around 10 seconds, and if he is quick, the thief has the proto-key assembled by then. That probably also is the reason for the alarm not going of: The transponder is usually only read in the ignition lock, not in the door lock. So, unlocking the car without breaking anything disables the alarm. As for the transponder: I heard they are easy to bypass. I broke my key once and lost the transponder. They used a mobile unit to connect to the car electronics and just had it "learn" an new key. No passphrase, no security at all (also a VW Polo). The manufactures do only sell these devices to licenced garages, but there are a lot of semi-legal copies out there. And at that point, they probably where able to drive the car somewhere, remove the tracking unit, and move your car wherever they wanted. Or they parked it in a container and took their time. Oh, and: My bike was stolen two years ago. I had the police engrave the frame, so I was able to recognize it when I walked by it two months ago. I called the police, they confirmed that it was my bike (they guy had bought it at some flea-market) and I was allowed to take it home. A few days ago, I locked it to a street lamp. Now I only have the frame left. Even the transmission was stolen :(
