      Yes, VS 2005 generally works with Vista. You'll need to apply a patch. See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa948853.aspx[^] for info. Be sure to download SP1 and SP1 Update at the bottom of that page.

          i know things generally crash in the next few weeks: to be on the safe side, have a copy of windows xp when a problem arises. xp is better for development because you're not losing cpu power compared to vista

            Yeah VS2005 works with Vista Professional Version. M using it with my new laptop and its brilliant. Luv it :)

              You just need to download and install the Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista and this will remove all your problems.                 I am still having problems with adding member variables of "control" type from the resource editor, and even via the class view. Can anyone help me out? SP1 and Vista update applied, and I can now see the checkbox for "control variable", but when I tick it, no resource IDs come into the list of controls, I can't add anything to any of the boxes in fact. In VC6 I was used to using the class wizard to simply add a member variable of control type to each control on the dialog, but now I can't do it in VS2005 (not sure if its Vista or VS2005 I am failing to understand)
