All TV should be Parental Guidance only. That way parents might actually check what their children are watching rather than wanting to delegate their sense of decency to a government body (which can only end in tears when they are expected to meet the standards of both devout Christians and San Francisco leathermen).

I pretty much agree. It should be up to parents, not government, to raise kids and set rules on what they can and cannot watch.

However, considering the lack of common sense and discriminatory ability of an average member of the population (hence the popularity of Big Brother, Celebrity Ice Prancing, The Sun, The Mirror, Trisha, Poop Idol, Eastenders and Coronation Street), a lot of parents aren't able to formulate sensible rules for their own viewing habits, let alone to prevent their sensitive*, vulnerable* offspring from being corrupted*. * = sarcasm

FCC Suggests Framework for Regulating Violence on TV[^] I agree with the statement that violent programming is bad for a child to watch. I also agree that there can be a lot a violence on TV during the time that kids are watching TV. And I agree with the statement that there is in part (but not the complete or only reason) a relationship between violence on TV and violence in real life. [Trying to word this right]I believe that the violence on TV should be regulated like sexual content and profanity. But I also have a problem with Congress regulating or controlling to much. Then we start leaning into (an even more) government controlled system. I think I got that out the way I wanted. In the end, I think the responsibility of what a child sees, hears, says, and does is the responsibility and duty of the parent. I do not allow my children to watch violent, sexually explicit, and profanity fulled programming. One of my reasons is, like the old saying goes "garbage in garbage out". I think (for a personal observation of people and their lives) that statement holds true whether it is computer programming or TV programming. That was my personal opinion but I also agree with the Bible as it says in Matthew 12:34 "...for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." Now don't get yourself out of joint because I have posted something from the Bible. I am no more than giving a reference to some that backs up my opinion. Well non the less what do yall think about the government taking more controll over what we watch? What do yall think about the statement of violence in TV relates to violence in real life?

[^]We live in an insane world, where people have no moral/ethical sense, where consumers can't control their insatiable desire to live out fantasy lives, and where we need a government to come in and regulate our behavior with laws because we are so morally corrupt.
