I was halfway expecting a virtual Mac desktop... but I guess you take what you can get :)

I think that is what it is called - not in front of that computer right now... Every time I launch Windows Media Player it goes to 'online store' and wants to contact something called URGE. With over 400 compact disks of music, I don't want to buy any of the drivel spewed out by the 'current crop of bands' so how can I remove URGE and get media player to default to something not requiring an Internet connection on startup? Thanks

I don't think it will try to connect to URGE unless that's set as your default under Media Guide. Select Media Guide instead. That fixed the problem for me.

He doesn't uninstall a 'real' installation of Office; it's one of the trialware versions.

I love how on the occasions that I am lazy and let WMP play my MP3 files that URGE thing tries to URGE me to buy the music I am listening to. Umm... DUH!

That assumes you have access to a recovery disk that can put on a clean install instead of one that also reinstalls all the crapware. Reinstalling the OS will probably take about an hour anyway, so you're not really saving any time that way.

:wtf: People actually use the PC shipped to them from major manufacturers? Dell/HP might have made some deal with a spyware vendor or botnet operator designed to spread on the internal LAN (or a disgruntled employee). Throw the Windows CD/DVD into the drive and re-install the OS before booting into the OS.
