Got my Dell Inspiron 8200

Just thought I'd update everyone on my laptop impressions in case anyone is in the market. I've never personally owned a Dell system of any kind because I build my own hardware, but I have bought them for clients before. I've had the laptop for a few days now, and it was delivered 2 days ahead of schedule. Here are the major specs: P4M 1.8GHz 512MB DDR Memory Geforce2 Go Video (32 MB) 30GB HD 8x CDRW/DVD combo 15" Ultrasharp UXGA 1600x1200 panel Windows XP Pro I was impressed with the Geforce2 Go graphics, they offer the Geforce4 440 Go which must be nothing short of awesome. My laptop ran Quake III at very playable speeds at 1600x1200 resolution, so I'm glad I didn't shell out the extra $179 for the upgrade, I don't need it. The flat panel is nothing short of beautiful. At the 1600x1200 native resolution everything is easy to read using the normal size fonts. The panel response is very fast, and playing Quake III at 1600x1200 looked great. I haven't run any benchmarks, but the system seems very fast, of course it is a 1.8GHz. ;) The chassis is of medium quality, I wouldn't mind if it were a little more rigid. It is fine though, and I guess they didn't want to add any more weight to the laptop. I am getting about 2 hours and 45 minutes with a single battery on max power saving mode. Even in this mode it is still very fast, and the screen is still easy to read at 50% brightness. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the Dell 8200. -- Dana Holt Xenos Software

I HATE YOU!!! (not really, but I'm jealous) my mom says she's going to buy me a dell but in a few weeks...I want a new computer now! I've had this system for four years and it just isn't cutting it for games that are cpu-intensive nowadays. p2 350 mhz 288 ram win xp pro geforce 2 mx400 7.49 gig hdd

I am behind the times on my desktop system's graphics. Congrats on the new Dell. I bought an Inspiron 4100 late last year, fully kitted out and am very happy with it. I've got two batteries and a Wireless LAN, so I can use it anywhere in the house for about 6 hours wirelessly, which is just great. I've got two batteries and a Wireless LAN, so I can use it anywhere in the house for about 6 hours wirelessly, which is just great.
