Rangers are pussies. They used to be tough, but quality went way down after the 1970s.

Really? What happened in the '70s?

Since redistribution of wealth via a centralized authority is compulsory, it's not "charity". It's extortion.

Once elected, the new president will "suddenly" realize (perhaps with "new" information) that we should continue the effort and that it would be irresponsible to withdrawl troops now.

They realize that now. That's why every proposal to "withdraw troops now" dies a quiet death as soon as its done making noise. We're stuck between a president with not much of a plan, and a congress with no plan at all and no backbone to properly critique the Executive plans.

            Bob Flynn wrote:

The problem is that the message that Iraq troops and civilians are standing up for themselves and turning in terrorists is not being made available to the public.

IMHO, that's just the tip of the iceberg. At this point, we could be handed detailed information on every single positive occurrence and still reject it or take it with a grain of salt the size of a Humvee - there has been just entirely too much manipulation of the press to take anything seriously from this administration. It's a bit late in the game to try honesty and still hope anyone believes you. Though of course, better late than never.

I agree, but I do not think that their (Democratic party) concern is about the war at all. I think that their efforts are all calculated to improve their chances of winning the next presidential elections.

I am not convinced that one side or the other (Dems vs Reps) have manipulated the media more than the other. But I do agree that the common perception is exactly as you described it.

Thats why I think that this soldier's comments are so good. He is giving first hand accounts of his experiences. More of that is needed from the troops on the ground.

Four-five years I think, but that is really not important. I would not use that sort of language at the pub, let alone in a professional forum. The frequency at which you turn to teenage vulgarity is why I asked. "You must be a loose pussy with a yeast infection" -- is that how you'd talk in front of your mother? If I cared squat about you I would be disgusted.

And calling Rangers pussies is okay with you? Why haven't you voiced your displeasure with him? I was simply making a comparison between the average ranger and him. If he thinks rangers are pussies then he must be a loose pussy with a yeast infection. Its simple to understand, it even has the extra kick to make it very offensive which is desirable in a post like that. The soapbox is not really a professional forum. It may be located on a programming/IT/technical website, but its NOT used to rant about tech issues.

The frequency is minimal in real life or any other forum, not that thats relevant to anyone here. There is a massive number of middle aged folk who have plenty of fucks and shit and pussies to shout out, just because one is older, that doesn't mean the person holds back thoughts or pulls punches. Maturity is not being civil at all times no matter what the circumstance.

Of course not, not that she would care anyways. I try to maintain a steady mood and easy going attitude at all times. Even when discussing politics with people face to face I don't get into it. For instance I was talking to a black girl at work about why she doesn't like Bush and loves Bill Clinton. She said she didn't know why she didn't like Bush but she liked Clinton because he was black. Normally in the soapbox I would rant on with insults and profanity, however in this case I laughed knowing he wasn't black or even acted black for that matter and then said to her, "you should judge a president on how he runs the country not by his character". What gets me here is that there is a lot of hypocrisy among the CPians in the soapbox, drive by voting and such. Then there are people who get offended over patterns of black on white pixels on their computer screens and have a fit over it. It shows how weak people are. -- modified at 15:56 Friday 27th April, 2007

This is exactly the point of the original message. It seems I have discovered something offensive that I can now use to my advantage.

This is the soapbox and if you have noticed, which I'm pretty sure you have, there is a notice at the top that says enter at your own risk. The original post was for Ed, he has no respect for the rangers. Calling them pussies, if he thinks they are pussies then what is he? I'm sure he ain't no uber tough bad ass. Keeping with the analogy, he called them pussies, so he must be a loose pussy with a yeast infection. Now are you going to talk to Ed about his fowl language and lack of respect to not only the people on this forum but the Rangers also? I doubt you will or anyone else for that matter. The older wiser CSS will not worry about what people on a internet forum think about him nor do I now. I don't come here to try to make a good impression so someone might consider contacting me for work. I doubt that would ever happen anyways since my articles are so simple and I hardly ever answer programming questions on the forums. Right now programming is just a hobby, I really enjoy it and thats why I do it. If I want to make money programming I will figure out a way, software is an extremely diverse market and I can come up with a product and make it usable on the first version.
