Wow. Mrs. C managed to buy a Wii on Friday and it is amazing. I ache like an old man today after a day of tennis, bowling and baseball. :) Any Wii owners have any games they would recommend? We have the 'Wario' thing, which is a giggle, and a driving game I have yet to try.

I don't have one yet, but I've heard Zelda and Tiger Woods golf are both good games. I'm interested to know how the driving games are.

Excite Truck is pretty fun, if you pick up some GameCube accesories you can play those games too. I picked up a couple GC Controllers, a GC memory card, and a copy of Mario Kart Double Dash and love it! I haven't found anything truly on the level of Wii Sports though.

I'm looking forward to more "play as a group" kinds of games, using natural motions with the controller. I think Wii Sports is the best out there right now in this category. We just got Tiger Woods golf which seems pretty good so far. I like Excite Truck myself, but I needed the racing wheel attachment for the controller. My son loves Zelda, and my 5-year old daughter is currently the house bowling champion. Wario Smooth Moves is pretty fun too. I got the Madden Football for myself... I'm finding that a very complicated game, but that may just be my problem :-)

Whoa. You can play GameCube games as long as you have some GC controllers? Sweet!

Don't forget the GC Memory card, the GC games don't know how to write to the Wii's memory. There are two panels that open on the "top" (assuming you have it standing vertically) One has ports for GC Controllers hidden, and the other is GC Memory cards (and or Mario Party 7 Mic). If that blows your mind have you checked out the Virtual Console yet? You can download some of the NES, SNES, N64, TurboGrafx, and Sega games for pretty cheap from the Wii Shop.

After playing Wii Sports *at length* with a friend, I picked up Tiger Woods, hoping it would be more of the same but with a little more depth. I think it would lose some of its luster as a single player game, but for multiplayer, its the best I've found so far. I've played a little Excite Truck, which was ok, and a little Tony Hawk Downhill Racer (or whatever it's called), which I thought was poor. Other than that, my friend has played a little Zelda, which he says is really good, but doesn't have time to play (my impression is that if you don't have AT MINIMUM 10 hours a week to play it, it isn't really worth it. You'll lose track of where you're at. And even then it will take about 2 months, I hear, to beat it. If you do have that time, my impression is that it's one of the best you'll ever play.) He's also been playing and enjoying Paper Mario quite a bit, I think. But from my perspective, Tiger Woods is the only one so far that is really a must have for me. Highly recommended, especially if you have a partner you can multiplayer with.

Raving Rabbids When I saw it the first thing to go through my mind was WTF? It's bizarre, weird, and totally great fun. Whatever the designers of that and Warioware Smooth moves were on - I WANT SOME!

I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)
