If so, what for? Which one? I know they are good for collaboration, but what other interesting tasks do you use them for?
I find them very useful for project documentation. I even developed my own engine (see sign). :-D

The company I worked for has a internal wiki which the staff share and document some techniques of coding. I have contribute a few but the company policy says the articles you wrote in it, cannot be published outside; They are afraid some internal information might leak out.

I have used wikimapia and wikiskies. wikimapia is showing geographic image on the earth using satellite and wikiskies is showing image of sky above the earth (very useful for astronauts).

Yep, we're using it for our internal development projects so we can keep our users appraised of what we're doing and keep the process transparent. We're also using it to put up documentation, help files and for general collaboration. Oh and if it helps we're using MediaWiki

I use DokuWiki http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:dokuwiki for my own documentation and procedure notes - really nice and simple and easy to setup and all the info ends up in files in a sensible directory structure so if the Wiki software side of it ever blew up the info can still be found in the file system. I actually installed this on my Thecus n2100 NAS box on the LAN so it's running on my hard disk! Pre this I had bits and pieces of info in various docs. It has a great syntax highlighting feature so is good for code snippets, useful SQL etc. Probably a downside is it doesn't seem that great for linking to docs you already have - though you can do it (part of that problem is I use Firefox not IE).

Yeah some of the entries boggle the mind at how much free time people have, and that apparently, they can think of nothing better to do than write up wiki entries on p0rn stars. It does seem a bit weird :)

I set one up for my company and we have been using it to document projects, network configurations, company standards, etc. We still like to write our docs in Word for each stage of the lifecycle, but wiki is a quick way to share notes during development of changes, snags, etc that need to be formally documented.

We use Confluence and have found it very useful for sharing standards and information that change frequently and hence needs a collaboration environment. Its also very useful to put tips, techniques, install guides, etc. orgnaized into spaces to make it easy for people to find content. I would still opt for a content/document management system for published sites or legal documents and so I think both have their place in an enterprise. However, if I were a small company, I'd probably just get by with a wiki.
