you haven't yet. Ceaselessly and vocally working outside forum guidelines is not thinking outside the box. You vocally and ceaselessly demand we obey your wishes and think YOUR way. You're far more boxed in than you care to think. AI has advanced, but your system has not. The one problem with cults is that they tend to suicide when they realize the dreams have been missed. When AI is achieved, and it will be, it will be through thinking outside your super-tiny box. I just hope you don't ask your followers to pass on with you. :sigh:

You mean using google images and smudging the result? You are the only person I know who can steal other peoples images, thumb the color around a bit and brag that you created a new work of art. And that it is some great achievement. Why not draw your wife's image into the Mona Lisa or something "original" like that. (Thomas Crown Affair, 1999) At least that would take a minor amount of skill.

Pictures! there is no paint involved. Nice attempt to imply some artistic merit where there is clearly none.

Clearly? None? Try this test. Have the Cal Monet paint a picture of something for you. Pick a good one, one that you like or think is unique or moving or distinctive in some way. Print it off. Then go to Google Images and using the same search phrase, locate the original (it should be on the first or second page and may not have the same proportions). Print that also. Now hang them both in a public place and ask passers-by what they think (without explaining the procedure). You'll find, as we have, that most people consider the Cal Monet's work both interesting and artistic (ie, having artistic merit); and you may even find some people asking for a copy!
No I will not. It is not up to me to prove the process you use to generate these images is artistic. You cannot call it a painting unless paint was used to create it. You cannot claim artistic merit where there is no artist. You love to play with words and are obviously pretty good at it. Using Monet's name is very clever but ultimatly insulting to the great artist.

Figures... and no, I take (with a camera), paint (with brush or digital brush), and create my own prints from my own originals. But that would be... thinking outside the box. You might try it sometime. I also make jewelry, play music (well, partially, I play, but still learning), learning to play the drum, do paper mache, clay sculpture, pencil, pen and ink, scratch board. My aunt does oil and oil pastels, I have several of hers. I prefer originals, because there is no theft, no copying. I don't have to steal a photo from Peter Jones and print it for my wall, I will buy a print from the photographer, or better yet, take my own for the challenge, for the thrill. I'll climb into the caves and take the photos, rather than google and frame them and act like it was an achievement. If you want an achievement, try actually doing something original, doing something outside the box. Such as you claim you want to do, but always fall short. There is a grand world out there, and googling for the images misses out on all the fun, especially if you claim it to be yours.

do you also inform them that you stole the image before you smudged it up a bit to be their print? or do you leave that little detail out?

The method is the same as that a human painter: look at the original, dab at the canvas in a congruent way, repeat until satisfied.

Mr. Grand Negus, There is obviously some history between you and other members of this board... and I don't know anything about that. I just wanted to tell you in a non-insulting way that your posts can be annoying. This is not a personal attack, but I thought someone who is not involved with whatever has happened in the past should let you know. Every time I read one of your posts I can feel the fact that you are pushing an agenda. Automatically that tells me that your advice or insight is skewed, & that I will unlikely be able to have a productive exchange with you whenever we disagree on something. You see, you have an agenda and changing yor mind on a particular subject would force you to reconsider the foundations of that agenda, so it is not likely to happen. Anyhow, if you are truly looking for an exchange on the topics of AI or the future development of simulated intelligences try starting out a little differently. Maybe by discussing some news item that relates to the field. Then put something in your sig about the fact that there is a website related to yur own work in the field. I don't think that would constitute the 'advertising' that they try to keep out of this forum... Just a thought. Anyhow, good luck out there. Regards.

The Cal Monet is the apparently intelligent and remarkably artistic offspring of our Plain English compiler, the CAL-3037.
These claims are seriously the dumbest thing you've ever tried to argue on here. They completely underestimate and trivialize the complex concepts of intelligence and authentic artistic expression, and do nothing but cement my impression of you as a pitiable megalomaniac. Seek professional help.

He has never wanted to discuss AI. He thinks by making a Syntactical language of pitiful diminished proportions, he already achieved it. He believes the world achievements in AI and lexical analysis are all wrong, and he is right. There is no room for discussion. He is here to stalk new prey, like a vulture flying over the land smelling for death. We are meat to him, nothing more, nothing less. He doesn't want thought, other than his own, none of us are people, unless we give up our own thought and obey him. There are no rules or laws but his own interpretations of those rules and laws. There are no achievements worth consideration, no decisions worth accepting, accept his. There is him, and nothing but him. As I said, the rest of us are meat, no more, no less. He makes that quite plain, and clear.

Thinking for yourself and outside the box is orthogonal to absolute obeisence. That's the part that gets em' I think. Obey your master. Do what your told. And hence the radical cult comparisons. Interesting though that you prefer to keep it in a cultish style, and seek disciples. I always found people with this predisposition to be worth much less than the true seekers. The ones thinking for themselves. Willing to be at odds with the rest because they're passionate about their discoveries. Such as Jesus. He didn't do as he was told. He rebelled against his religion and instituted his own.
This statement was never false.
