Are there any good alternative to outlook? I don't like it! I need an e-mail, appointment&calendar program but I can't find a good one. Is outlook the only one?? What do you use? Thanks - SONORK ID 100.17421 : b0nu$ -

There are several available free options that will handle your email needs. There are even more if you are willing to pay a little bit. I have yet to find one that handles e-mail, calendering, notes and tasks like outlook though, (At least not in a Win32 environment ;) ). If you find one let me know. Here is a list of email programs that I have tried along with their cost and my rating of them on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best). Poco Mail Price: 25.00 Rating: 9 Notes: My present favourite. Would be a 10 but the UI is just non-standard enough to give it a small learning curve. Normally I would have hit him harder for this, but the program extremely well and the UI may be non-standard but it sure is pretty. :) Pegasus Mail Price: Free Rating: 5 Notes: This has been around for ever and has a strong following. Lots of nice features. The UI drove me bat-sh*t though so I gave up one it. I dig the feature set so I may try it again sometime. Calypso Price: Free Rating: 8 Notes: This was my standard e-mail client for ages. I still think it was one of the best written e-mail clients of it's time. Unfortunately, it is no longer being supported, this is primarily what bumps it's rating down. It is still available though. Eudora Price: Free Rating: 4 Notes: I had the same problem with Eudora that I had with Pegasus. The UI made me want to bash my head into the cube wall. One additional problem with Eudora though, I had frequent program crashes. I may give the new version a chance sometime though. Clients I am aware of but haven't tried yet. i.Scribe/InScribe Price: Free/20.00 Mail Warrior Price: Free The Bat! Price: Free Express Plus Price: 35.00 Hope that helps.
