Yesterday I saw a news on TV telling that in USA they have granted a patent on certain Yoga postures and procedures. ridiculous.. Its been a tradition of india , USA did not know anything about it. Its a practice that every common man can follow. In the past also with basmati rice and turmeric also they get turmeric. US is nothing but all borrowed ideas and people from the world. Even Atom bomb too they learn from germans. Nothing original is there.

The government wants to thwart anyone who tries to profit from the nation's so-called "traditional knowledge," from yoga to 150,000 ancient medical remedies. India already has successfully challenged one U.S. patent granted to two Indian-born Americans who used the spice turmeric in a wound-healing product. That patent was revoked by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

    Regards, Satips.

I own a patent on ranting. If you keep ranting like that you should pay me $1000 per line or I might sue you for lost benefit!!

Germany has never been a nuclear power, although they made attempts. Can you back up your claim?

i did a quick patent search, but couldn't find any patented postures or procedures. there are many patents on assorted accessories (yoga mats, blocks, machines, clothes, etc) - but i saw none for actual poses. there are a number of trademarks and copyrights on various poses, but they are not patents. and many of those trademarks and copyrights are held by people with Indian-sounding names. sounds like FUD to me.

you can thank Americans for inventing the transistors and ICs that make up the computer you typed that on; for inventing the computer keyboard and mouse you used, the hard drive your data is stored on, the operating system you used, and the CRT you see it all on; for inventing not only the IBM PC, but the concept of the personal computer, too; and you can thank them for inventing TCP/IP and ethernet that gets your data to the internet, which Americans also invented. or not, your choice.

no, not gunpowder. but an American did invent the powder that's most widely used in ammo today: smokeless powder.

AFAIK that is a trademark. When I first read that rice from Basmati cannot be sold as Basmati rice, because the word is a trademark of an US company, I thought it must be parody. X| Anyway, they can only hold trademarks on names, not patents. By the way, do you know how the story about that tree called "neem" ended? A few months back I heard about an US company trying to patents extracts from that tree for use in medicine. An indian organisation claimed prior art, because the tree has been a traditional cure for hundreds of years. Sadly, I never heard about them again...

Hey, wait! There is no "the germans". The US had a couple of foreign experts develop the bomb, some of them might have been german. But they were all single immigrants, no one was working for Germany anymore. People say that the nazis also worked on some kind of nuke, but they lost the war before the bomb was finished (no wonder - their experts were in the US...).

The US are the most aggressive nation with the most destructive army. But are you really "powerful"? Looking at the US I see the power to destroy others - but where is the power too live and let live? Your government lives in fear all the time. According to statistics published in local newspapers, you are the most hated nation on earth and the biggest terrorists's groups are all after you. Is that what you call power? IMHO real power is the ability to get along without repression and deterrence. Sadly, that's soapbox stuff...

Actually, every country gets huffy about such things. I even got mildly chewed out for not meditating the "right way." I guess because I am more Native American than Buddhist, I am automatically wrong, I was told to find a Buddhist teacher since that would be the only way to find the "right way" to meditate. So the shoe fits on many feet.

Actually, no. You will find if you actually study the subject, both were working on the project independantly based on initial "concepts" that were known to both. When the US finally defeated Germany they found out that their Atomic program was barely in infancy compared to the US. This is what happens with parallel development, neither share between the two other than goals, the competition is the same, but the results are not.

And if you read the statistics, the current government of the United States does NOT represent the majority of American beliefs, and most of us can't wait until the current guy shuts the door behind him. I know I for one am very proud to be an American, though like everybody, in every country, I'd guess, there are elements of my land that embarrass me, and I'd rather get along with my fellow humans than fight them. Still, if we're the most hated country in the world, why is everyone still so damned eager to get here? Hmm? Why do we have such a problem with illegal immigrants in this country?
