And the angels sang...."Tim Tams!"

You cant beat a flake, try them in vanilla ice cream. Anzac bikkies and lamingtopn are easy to make. So what are tim tams called over there?
The chain the OP is referring to is called Cost Plus World Market. The packages I buy here in Los Angeles are labeled Arnott's Originals, and they are clearly Tim Tams. Cost Plus sells the regular ones, the double chocolate coated ones, and the caramel ones. I like them a lot.

Most, except Australians, will not remember my occasional reference to my love of the Tim Tam, which is a packaged cookie (biscuit) from Australia. Occasionally (maybe once a year) I order a box online. Today we went to Sioux Falls and went to a store called "World Market" which appears to be a chain store. They had foods from all over the world. I found the Cadbury Flake (score!), the Violet Crumble (oh you are **** me!) and I asked about Tim Tams. Apparently they can't be sold in the US under the Tim Tam name (I'll have to research that) but they did sell them. Oh, Tim Tams, how I love you slam you and then eat your chocolaty goodness... Now if I could just find Anzac cookies, chicken flavored crisps, and lamington....

I just cracked open another one of my stashed packs of Tim Tams. So, so good.

I spent 4 months in the USA (way back in '94...) nad I must say I loved it - the country, the people.... but one thing - and I've heard others say it too - you Americans simply cannot do is make biscuits. (Your bread is pretty poor too...) It's a mystery why, god knows you have enough varieties of flour around, but you simply cannot do it. One thing that struck me when I looked at those you had over there, was that every single variety I saw had an ingredients list so damn long they had to make the typeface almost microscopic in order to fit it on the packet! You don't do anything by halves, you lot... Biscuits are (should be) simple fare... Fred

Did they have the new choc orange ones ? I am going to be in the US in about a month, would you like me to bring you some chicken chips ? I can mail them from LAX, or DFW.

I only saw two flavors--the original and a caramel one I think. They may have had more but in my excitement I focused on the original. Thanks for the offer of the crisps but I'll pass. I bought enough naughty food at that store to last awhile!

Nothing. They're Anzac biscuits and as a Pom you should know that.

I agree with you. I miss the bakeries of Australia. We have a chain called Panera Bread which does have a good Asiago cheese bread.

There's apparently an Aussie bakery chain in the US with pavlova, lamintons (:() Anzacs and vanilla slices.
