If you are able to use these words correctly, you are likely to have a superior command of the language. laissez faire ... is French.

Most(?) words in English have their root in some other language - Latin, Greek, French, and many others (including Yiddish)

Much of the English language has developed by including/stealing words and phrases from other languages. This works both ways: take, for instance, the French use of 'Le Breakfast'. The roots of many English words can be traced back to Latin: when I were a lad Latin (and Greek for a year) were a standard part of the curriculum and some Latin is still used; e.g. 'quid pro quo', 'et al' and so on. Sadly I remember little of those lessons since I didn't particular enjoy them as the teacher was not especially good.

I'm going to memorize every single one of these words, and then make a concerted effort to never use any of them.

"Euro" is a word many people graduating in the USA don't know? Crikey. I see they slipped "impeach" in there. Guess we know which side of the political divide wrote this list. "plagiarize" made me laugh. Ten bucks says the people who don't know the word sure know how to do it. And now my challenge, to all ye guttersnipes wot English use badly; List the letters of the alphabet not represented in the list (as used at the start of the word only.)

It's some kind of weird system operation. It seems to close applications... Handy in some cases ;P You might want to mail microsoft about it, maybe they fix it in the next version of Windows.
