Straight from the pages of 'I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes' book: Wheelchair man gets highway ride[^]

A wheelchair user has been taken for a high-speed ride along a US highway after his handlebars became tangled up in the front grille of a lorry. Police in the town of Paw Paw, Michigan, said the unidentified man told them "it was quite a ride", but complained only that he had spilled his soda. The truck reached speeds of 50mph (80km/h) as it drove down the Red Arrow Highway.

That is one lucky man! :omg:

I'll buy the 50Mph wheelchair story, but don't believe for a second that there are vehicles called "lorry" in Michigan...

Just a bit of localisation for us Brits, I'm sure - it is off the BBC website after all - what would you call it (they'd call it a wagon where I live, but I'm not sure all the people round here realise we don't use horses any more).

We'd call it a "truck" or "semi" or possibly "semi truck". Maybe "tractor trailer", but probably not.

I'm busy whiling away time with Hubbard's Mission Earth, and was very surprised to read text in which a US author uses the word lorry to refer to lorries.

He was a crazy whacked out cult leader. He doesn't count.

-- You have to explain to them [VB coders] what you mean by "typed". their first response is likely to be something like, "Of course my code is typed. Do you think i magically project it onto the screen with the power of my mind?" --- John Simmons / outlaw programmer

I don't care about your opinion of the man, I'm simply citing the use of the word lorry in American literature, much of which probably comes from crazy, whacked out people, if not genuine cult leaders.

Yes, I assume this happened while the 18 wheeler was stationary.
