Hehe.. not in the slightest. People like that are the reason Americans have such a reputation for excess. The vast majority of Americans are studious, moral, hardworking people, but the only thing anyone sees on TV are people like Paris Hilton. People like her live what I term the "twice charmed life." The entire universe they occupy is completely and utterly different than the one the vast majority of us live in, and so they actually have the luxury of believing life SHOULD be the way they live it and we like the fools we are actually buy into it. When slapped with a hard dose of reality, they do generally respond the way she has - first with an outburst, then with tears, then with solemn recognition that there's so much more to the world than their tiny corner of it. As a realist and sometimes a cynic, I love seeing people come to that realization.

That is true everywhere, unfortunately. I think they should have made her live the simple life for real instead. Better yet, have her do a wife swap or come live my life for a few months while I rub elbows with the rich and famous. :)

“I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. I was not myself. It was a horrible experience,” Hilton said.[^] Uh yeah, that's what Jail is! “I feel that the purpose of my life is to be where I am,” Hilton told Walters. Well, duh, when you act stupid and do stupid unlawful and dangerous things, you often end-up in jail. Appearently, jail-time is having the desired effect on Paris. A good reality-check! I know a lot of people despise her but I kind of feel sorry for her like you do when you see a child being tormented or something. She's had such a poor upbringing that she's mentally the equivalent of a 6 year old in an adult's body.

I'm not sure how many people actually despise her, but rather despise the attention she gets for being a rich simpleton. I'm sure she's developed her own set of issues, but she also has all the time in the world and a barrage of shrinks at her disposal if she wanted to address those issues. Personally, I don't hate the girl, nor do I feel particularly bad for her. I just don't much care.

Hasn't she only been in jail for a few days? Can't wait to hear what insight she's gained a month from now. Jeessh..

No doubt it will be entirely scripted by her image-makers.

Well.. despite my feelings about her "celebrity" I tend to agree with you. There is a part of me driven to sympathize with what she's going through and understand it on a personal level rather than a judicial one. She's still a person with thoughts and feelings, no matter how stilted their development.

It is about time for her to get a reality check and learn a thing or two about the really real world. I wonder if the strange behavior was caused by some sort of drug withdrawl. I'm thinking of something like Prozac here, or possibly even birth control pills. Don't underestimate how much impact BC can have. My wife was prescribed them at one time, and it royally screwed her up until weeks after discontinuing them. Lets just say pure raw emotion taking control over any possible reason and logic. From what I have seen, getting off of them can be REALLY rough on some women, and I don't think that you get them in jail. Suddenly withdrawing from antidepressants can do similar things too. Maybe the little time in the can will help out by purging all the drugs (legal, semi-legal, and illegal) from the girl's system and allow the brain to start functioning. Plus, giving a mega-dose of reality as well. Let's just hope that she kind of disappears for a while from public view.

Does really someone care? This last week I was in Denmark, and everything there was about a guy that tried to kill a referee in a football match and bout Paris Hilton... Once in Spain again, here we are only concerned with Paris Hilton... In Codeproject Paris Hilton appears again... I think that the best she has done is to appear naked with his boyfriend doing bad things. X|
