I know I saw a collection of small images, intended for web pages, on the Wikimedia commons a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, I don't do web design so I didn't save the URL.

As mentioned by a poster above the main sources - if you want to pay - are Corbis, Getty, IStock and the like. One that is left out is Image Source, located at www.imagesource.com. Image quality is very good, the lowest resolution files should easily be good enough for your needs on the web.

Hi All, I think Corbis is too expensive. Here are a couple that are more reasonable. www.123rf.com www.dreamstime.com Both of these sites use credits. It ends up being about $1 to $2 for an image of quality good enough for the web. Mike

Be really careful what you take from Flickr and how you use it. Most of the stuff is probably OK, but this page is pretty clear: http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/[^] Some photos on Flickr may not be licensed at all, so be sure to check. The unclear nature of ownership of Flickr photos is one reason I don't have an account.
