This is not the same kind of "Band A is better than Band B" thread that a certain "moron with a passion" has posted a while back, but instead just a poll, to see something of a cross-section of community's tastes in a way that last.fm can not provide, since there a frequent listener carries more "weight" in the weekly tally. Just post the band name, the song and a few words on why, lyrics if relevant. Mine: DEVO - Planet Earth Watch on YouTube[^] Lyrics[^] ...reflects a certain aspect of US culture very precisely...it's a snapshot of what i see every day, of what frustrates me to a degree...it's a very good definition what what i feel. And the sound is good, in terms of vocals as well as the synthesizer. Roswell

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CAMy favorite song would probably be Scars of the Crucifix by Deicide. Here it is on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cyZj9GUXD4 The video is a disturbingly corny, but the song is good.

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CAI don't see much point in having only one favorite song (or anything else). But having one (or a very few) "anthems" seems OK. One of my problems with stating one is that I may not keep them all readily available. Just this morning John Denver's "Sunshine on My Shoulders" was on the radio so at the moment that's my choice. I wouldn't have thought of it yesterday, although "Rocky Mountain High" may have come to mind.

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CAIt's impossible to pick one song. How can you do that?

Of course not, but... OK, Last.fm[^] says that my favorite song is "Entlassen", by Eisbrecher, which is a cool song indeed, but probably not my favorite.

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CANo way I could pick a song, but the MOP album is, without a doubt, my all time favourite. I am in good company, it was overwhelmingly voted the best heavy metal album of all time.

City Mayor, Los Angeles, CAIf I have to post just one then "On Your Shore" by Enya. It's unique, haunting, speaks to transience and permanence. It's short and sweet and truly deep. You might catch it on the station linked from this page http://www.pandora.com/people/mfaithfull[^] If you wash up on my shore. Leave me a message in a bottle :-D
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

 Last.fm shows my fav song as "Grey Street". Which, for the year, is probably true. But it wasn't a horribly twisted 'lounge singer' version of Gray Street that i was singing to myself the other night while grilling, it was Plateau - so Plateau wins out for the short-term. Ask me ten years ago, it would have been a Better Than Ezra song. Nine years ago, it would have been a Metallica track. Eight years ago, Rammstein. Seven years ago, Pink Floyd. etc. These things change all the time... so don't take a fun little thread too seriously. ;)

I'm not sure if you're trolling, or just deluded. I'll play along tho. There's no such thing as devil music, and, if there was, Metallica is definately not it.
