I hate Teltra (still)

Apparently, all that Telstra phone support is willing to do in regard to my ongoing connection issues, is cancel my account. I hate them SO much....

I find Telstra pretty insufferable as well. I get my phone service from my ISP now, but it is still reliant on the Telstra infrastructure. All the same, I take pleasure in directing as little money Telstra's way as possible.

Is this for your internet connection? Do you use their cable or adsl service? We moved a couple of weeks ago and I organised for the phone to be connected on a particular date. I then organised for our adsl (with a different isp) to get moved on the same day. The isp put the application into telstra for the adsl in the morning but telstra didnt connect the phone till the afternoon. End result was no internet, Telstra told the isp the number didnt exist (the isp emailed me to let me know which is completely useless given I didnt have any internet) and an extra $100 charge. Two weeks and one day later and we still have no internet.

Optus is just as bad. Hopefully the governments new Broadband plans go through and we get some decent speed all round. Of course that isn't going to help the awful service quality that all the providers give, but atleast it's a start. Has anyone tried iiNet? They are supposed to be fast. Internode is reportedly the best ISP in Aus when it comes to service, but they have like .1% of the market...

Yeh we've just tested iiNet as a second connection in the office. It's better than optus (but then that's not saying much is it ;) I had an InterNode account at home for a while and it was fine but when I moved I had to drop it because they didn't service the new area. Went with TPG which has been fine so far ~ We really really need to spin off a national telecomms infrastructure company from Telstra with the G9 members as equal partners. Yeh I know I'm dreaming...

I have wireless because there is no cable down here and no ADSL where I live. Your story doesn't surprise me, it sounds pretty typical.

I am in Hobart, my future continues to be wireless, under the new government promises. Internode rocks, I put my inlaws onto them.

WAKE UP! On a more serious note, that could well be implemented by the governments new plan, it just wont be.

How far is you’re in laws from your location? Ever look into trenching your own connection to them using an LRE (Long Reach Ethernet)[^] probably would be much cheaper to do that and pay half the price for their internet connection that deal with the mess you have to now.
With respect, I must disagree. A quick look at middle management in just about any corporation shows that the dodo not only survived, it's reproducing in record numbers. Christopher Duncan

Yeah it takes forever to get online here - shocking! I got stuffed around too. I waited about 4 weeks. And they overcharged me the connection etc. by $300+, which I had to fight over for weeks to get it sorted out. But now it's all sorted I'm happy. 1.5MBs with 15GB downloads for $49 p/m (leave any time, no cancellation fee).
