I'm also willing to give FTP information to anyone who has ideas on how to make this work better. We are at code red in so many ways so if you want to jump on board email me or Bradml to get the goods. I'm sending them to Jon Sagara too but I don't know of his availability to reply. - Rex

I am willing to help in any way I can. I would suggest some way of showing that this is legit. A picture, something. Also, a digg this link, reddit, slashdot etc.

You all probably know about Rex's site (http://www.readytogiveup.com/[^]) but we are just a small part of the web community. I have submitted Rex's story to Digg, I hope you guys can take a small amount of time to vote for it. Link to digg page is here: http://digg.com/tech_news/Father_turns_to_web_to_treat_daughter[^] (get friends and family to vote too)

Hmmm. I don't know. Maybe digg will just make the whole story seem scam.

ETA: I happily retract my initial suspiciousness. See code-frog's reply below. That's a very horrifying story. With all due respect to those involved - has anyone bothered to verify its veracity? I skimmed the info on the site, and couldn't find full names, addresses, or other identifiable information regarding this. There have been other "sob stories" about deathly-ill children and the terrible effects that has on the family (financially and emotionally) that have turned out to be scams. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/prayer/hogman.asp[^] http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/shergold.asp[^] http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/slowdance.asp[^] http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/children/tauber.asp[^] http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/briody.asp[^] http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/prayer/bundy.asp[^] If folks are going to donate, please try to figure out the name of the person you're donating to. It would be very simple (and cheap) for this person to setup a "charitable fund" bank account to deposits his PayPal stuff to, and provide the details of the account so that donors could verify that the whole deal is legit. -- modified at 12:08 Tuesday 19th June, 2007

I've updated the page with more information so that people don't feel inclined to believe I'm making it up. Have a look now. What else should I do? Someone suggested adding dig tags but I don't know how (where to put them or what they do). http://www.readytogiveup.com/[^] - Rex

Of course, it's just that since you've only been a member here less than a month, you don't know what you're talking about. code-frog (Rex) is a long time member here and known to many, thats why we know it's not dodgy :|

You wish. Point is, you don't know what you're talking about and you could have easily researched Rex's story on codeproject.

I just signed in to Digg and voted for it. Too bad the site is down right now, but I'll go back later to donate. Rex, hold on man, it will all turn out fine. My prayers are with you and your family. :rose:
