How much do you agree with the following statements: 1. The taskbar thumbnails of application windows are very cool, but utterly useless. 2. The 3D Flip method of switching applications is super-duper cool, but utterly impractical and therefore useless 3. The revamped file-overwrite dialog box that asks you to "Click the file you want to keep" is ten times harder to figure out than the XP version that simply asked you, "Do you want to overwrite 'A' with 'B' ?" 4. The "breadcrumb" navigation in Windows Explorer is NOT a suitable replacement for the removed "up-folder" button.

      1 - mostly true 2 - yes, true 3 - I've not seen that. 4 - Yes, that is a PITA

Definitly some of my complaints, though i have more than that:sigh: You got my 5. The ones i'd add are the 50% grey text cursor (I), which you can hardly see, the search that doesn't allow the "file types" option, and the fact that when you come out of "standby", unlike XP, vista doesn't have a "turn off" button, which i normally use if i need to take the machine out of standby and directly to hibernate without having to log in in between:rolleyes: Roswell:)

Oh don't even get me started on how much they have ruined the search feature by endless efforts to dumb it down. The way the search was in Windows 2000 is the right way to do it. Just let me type in the pattern to search for, and whether to search subfolders. I don't want to have to manipulate a hundred different options that were intended to make my life "easier."

And that warning when we say 'View Source'; I feel very much intimidating, at least from a web developer's perspective. http://lavanyadeepak.blogspot.com/2007/05/windows-vista-notepad-launch-warning.html[^]

Interesting... My personal opinion is that after 98/2k, Windows got way too "user-friendly". I'd still be there if Microsoft didn't find sneaking and manipulative ways of making me upgrade... Thats why I went to free open-source, user-UNfriendly Linux ;P

So you are getting a Vista laptop? I have a vista laptop (HP 9205Tx). HP doesnt supply XP for this laptop, only Vista. I have now spent a total of 44 hours tracking down every single XP driver for every piece of hardware in this laptop, and now i think i have them all, and am ready to attempt installing XP. Thats how much I like Vista. I guess I just never learned to love the donut.
