Maybe a repost: Microsoft CEO Ballmer laughs at Apple iPhone[^] (January 17, 2007) By the way, Ballmer seems to be a nice guy, not so unfriendly as often described.

Heh, yeah, i wouldn't think twice about leaving the neighbor's yapping dog alone with him... :->

Yes, but can you blame them for doing so if that's the only legal way they can hire programmers they want at the rate they can afford?

I am sure he is nice when he is in public but you don't get to where he is without being shrewd. My guess is that if you are working for him and miss expectations you may well find him to be a bit mean. I do think that he comes off as a good business man and I think that it is interesting points that he is bringing out about the cost of the IPhone. Personally I just don't see spending that much money on that kind of phone with the poor quality of service I get with ATT already. But as much as I think I know it will be the next big thing and make gerbillions of money.

I don't either, but then, that's why i never bought a $200-$400 subsidized Treo. Apple's doing the same thing with this that they do with all of their products: skim off the wealthy, trendy folk, then lower the price to get the less wealthy while simultaneously introducing a shiny new model with which to skim their first group of customers again...

I don't know why but Ballmer just seems somewhat fanatical and on the lunatic fringe to me. If I was put at the top of the food chain in Redmond then Ballmer would be gone in a heartbeat and I'd think that would be slower than I'd really want. He just seems like such a ball of anger at times and unpredictable anger at that. But then I guess Bill was no angel in some ways. Guess the ol' chairman can be very intimidating himself...

There's this... nervousness that comes across listening to him talk that really makes me uneasy. I mean, if you're the CEO of MS, one of the richest people on earth, and you just can't ever relax... it has all the makings of a grim tragedy.

Yes! That is definitely what I'm referring to.
