Dell delivery time?

Just wanna ask those who have bought dell stuff online. Usually how long do you have to wait for your ordered item to be delivered? This is the first time I ordered from dell online, a 19" widescreen a couple of days ago. Now i just received their confirmation email and it states that the estimated delivery date is on the 24th of this month?! Is it always this long? :confused:

A couple years ago it took about 3 weeks to build and ship my XPS 1st gen laptop from Dell. And now Lenovo is telling me my X61 won't be shipped until the 20th of this month :(, but I don't see why a monitor should take so long, they should have those in stock
Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

When you finally get a tracking number, check the FedEx/UPS website. I've found that when a company that ships something and "estimates" the delivery date (Amazon does this), they're usually WAY off and the delivery is actually made a lot sooner.

There may not be stock at present. Just enquire them whether thsy have despatched the Laptop through which courier and get the tracking Number. If they didn't delivered get it known to them why this much time. If stocks are there they will deliver it in 2 to 3 Business working days.

They are doing better, the last time I ordered a laptop I got the confirmation email after I got the laptop. :doh: I gave the developer in charge of that app crap for a month after that.

I have ordered a laptop and a desktop recently and gotten both about 3 - 4 days before their estimated delivery date.

I ordered a heavily customized computer and 19" monitor (not Dell brand) for my wife a month or so ago. It shipped the next day. The monitor followed two days later; although it did state it wasn't going to ship for three more weeks initially. I'm guessing they drop ship the monitors from the source vendor, and they're using a leadtime provided by that vendor.
