WebService for drawing maps [modified]
-
Does anyone know a webservice provider that offers geographic data services (such as drawing maps with points/paths on them) at a reasonable price for commercial use? I contacted Maporama[^] and they have powerful webservices, but their licensing model is quite expensive, because they charge a base service license and then each query. Summing up, each query costs about 5 eurocents. A query is in most cases an invocation of the service (DrawMap, for example). So, any advice? Thanks. :) -- modified at 10:18 Thursday 5th July, 2007
If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that "says something" about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality. - Charlie Brooker My Blog - My Photos - ScrewTurn Wiki

Doesn't google maps do something like this?
¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned Save an Orange - Use the VCF! VCF Blog

They do, and its free (although he'd probably want to sort out a license if there's going to be heavy commercial use)
I checked Google's Terms and Conditions but could not find any usage limits, I think it used to be 50,000 hits per day, but it looks like they have dropped that now. http://www.google.com/apis/maps/terms.html But this page mentions the limit http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html
