CG, any chance you can remove poutine's messages permanently? They're really screwing up the boards...

Just getting started on that now. I would never remove his posts if he started a thread I disagreed with, but I agree, he's spamming the boards, and that has to stop.

I think it is time to have a post flood delay, (if there already is one, it should be increased).

The ironic thing about that story is that Dell only started offering XP because of public outcry that they couldn't buy Dell's with XP, and obviously those customers were going to Dell's competition. So it's a bit ridiculous IMO that Dell is now tooting the "we give you a choice" horn. Of course they give customers a choice. They'd be losing their shirt if they didn't. As to the medical industry, FDA, etc., that's just par for the course. The medical industry has tightest *ss when it comes to shoving new operating systems up the pipe, as it were. The gov't is second. And rightly so, with software and OS's that can either kill you or cure you. But there's nothing new to the attitude "we're not going to be beta-testers for Microsoft's OS". Heck, that's why I don't bother with CTP's and betas, and I'm an MVP!!! Anyways, another sensational news article that really means nothing and miscronstrues everything. Marc

One of the many things I wish we had. And quite honestly, the tools need to be in more peoples hands. Trusted community members who have proven that they have enough self-control to moderate judiciously, rather than arbitrarily and who will use the ban-hammer for good instead of evil.

Vista will be fine in the long run - it's going through the same thing that XP did. HOWEVER ... I don't believe Vista will replace XP nearly as fast. XP was replacing '98 in the consumer market and that was a serious upgrade. (DOS kernel to NT kernel). XP has matured considerably. I've tried Vista on a couple of systems myself - it's a nice system. Very impressive. However - it ain't going to replace my production (and personal) XP Professional systems for quite some time. As nice as it is, during the weeks I was using it I found next to NOTHING that it offered that would mandate a system rebuild to it over XP Professional. -CB ;)
