And to make things more confusing, loose has different meanings. For example a friend of mine was very disappointed by a shop in Saudi Arabia that offered "Loose dates for 5 Riyals"...

i can see your point i guess but how someone could get lose and loose mixed up i dont know and why i would put either in a CV i dont know... eg... i lose at poker alot and i like loose shirts winning at poker is all luck and having tight shirts is only for women... the above statment is an example, i know a lot of people will argue with it
As for the CV part... "I do not tend to loose track of things. I am very good with following complex code and can write formulas." Yes, I know about "formulae"!

How many did he buy? :P Now that I've suffered a "ReDim Me As Single" I could use a few... Also, since they're in Saudi Arabia I'd imagine they're hot dates too.

I am thoroghly skilled at typing and can type quite quick. (I'll ignore the romantic possibilities of the missing U) My other peeve with written things is Americanisms (I'm in the UK) and I nearly kick myself every time I put "center", barring CSS and things.

So it's something to do with syno-no, wait...those words that sound the same but mean different things. Except, the problem lies with words that look alike or sound alike but not actually context-specific words. I guess the problem is that people can't use the language. Really bugs me when I make daft mistakes. Makes me want to delete it and retype the whole paragraph, until the grammar is sufficiently confusing but still makes sense. If everyone could type properly and speak properly then there'd be no problems with communication. Although, you ought to see the local dialect in action on MSN. A: ryt m8 B: i m8 B: wit u daen eh nyt? A: gaun oot wi tam n tht A: gaunny gt smashed B: lol m8...wen yes gaun? Like that. Roughly translated, it's A asking B if he is well, and B finding out that A is going out today, with the intent of becoming drunk. B also inquires as to when A is leaving.

Otherwise, I would have to disagree. The mind must be properly engaged, or all else will be for naught. For example, perfectly fine running code. compiles okay, links okay, runs okay, but very convoluted - improper thought processes led to its creation. Same thing with grammar - it could be syntactically and verbally correct, but utter gibberish - that is not good communications to me!

Early in my programming career I wrote a whole slew of #defines to allow me to use the correct (UK) spellings while programming.

Good idea that... I would really love a new Randomise function. Something screws it up in my latest tinkering/hobbyish app and the "Randomize" returns almost the same number set each time. It's a Matrix screensaver, and the columns are changed in the same order each run. Uploaded here[^] as of now. I wouldn't say it's beautiful programming but you'll see what I mean about the 'random' numbers. Starts about 20 across, goes right a few columns, right a few more, right another few, and then either goes back to the left of the start position or goes to the far right hand side.

If "loose" were spelled "luice" (like "juice"), it might be better. But then again, "lose" doesn't sound anything like "hose", or "pose" (which itself is dangerously close to "posse").

You have to be careful with loose dates; you never know what you'll catch.

[Activate Ninja mode] :~ If you fancy writing an open-source random number generate I'm sure plenty of people will use it. It wouldn't be a question anyway, since it seems that the problem is due to it being multi-threaded.

Nice attempt...Gaelic would at least be a real language. This is hardcore Weegie Ned speak. Maximum of two properly spelled words per message. Grammar and decency optional. Makes regex's look good.

Something that's been getting right up my nose, lately, is the number of instances of "please wait while the [whatever] is being [whatevered]" that turn up on my monitor. Fine, so it's code that was outsourced to Bangalore, but can't they get someone to translate the Indian-English dialect into one of the native varieties?

Indeed. Must be me not thinking about what I'm saying. 3 day sub-standard sleeping does noone any favours. Especially since I don't like coffee. Still, even if people didn't think, if they could say clearly what was on their mind it would certainly help.

Confused? You will be...There are loads of very good "generates" around, some probably on CP. Why not just seed it with the time or something, that'll randomise it enough.
