I just got my 19" widescreen monitor. Now i got a problem with the resolution. It seems like the highest resolution i can go is 1152x864 cos when i try to set it to 1440x900, it resets itself back. Anyway, now my desktop looks stretched. Anyone have any idea what i should do to fix it? -- modified at 12:50 Friday 13th July, 2007 Ok, i think i may have fixed it. I added a custom resolution in nvidia settings and it kind of worked. :~

      1. Maybe your video card doesn't support 1440x900 2) If you're using an analog cable (old 15-pin vga style) instead of a DVI cable, you may not be able to use the native resolution.

I've run my 19x12 monitor over VGA with no troubles. DVI vs VGA doesn't matter resolution-wise until you get over 19x12, which is just about at the limit of DVI's bandwidth.

I tried playing a game and it allows me to set the game resolution to 1440x900. Looks well though.

          Yes, using dvi cable.
