What Do You Love???

If you could do anything in the world for a full-time job what would it be? Pay doesn't matter, experience doesn't matter and education doesn't matter. If Donald Trump said I'll pay you $2,000,000 a year and you can pick whatever you want to do for work "But it has to be a paying job of some sort!". What would you pick? Deanna has been asking me this for a while. What would I love to do? So far all I can come up with is to become an expert in Mountain, Desert, Jungle and Ocean survival. I think that would be awesome. What would you do if pay didn't matter and Trump was going to give you $2,000,000 a year to do it regardless of it being a job as a Brain Surgeon or pulling shots at an espresso bar in the coolest part of New York City? For me right now it'd be survival. I'd love to get away from computers, cities, people, phones and just hang out in "the wild" (a quote from Madagascar a good flick really).

I think a ski instructor would be cool. I'm with you on computers and technology. I really enjoy programming, especially embedded systems. But if money were no issue, I would only own a computer to look for my next destination.

I always wanted to be a fighter pilot...but given that my colour blindness keeps me out of that, I'm just as happy doing what I do now - developing interesting software to support software development. It's what I wanted to do when I was 13 (I wrote that in an essay at school) - I have my dream job :-)

I would love to work for a travel magazine and see the world. Not just the typical touristy stuff, but some of the smaller lesser known stuff. That's where you meet the coolest people.

Pro golfer? (a very bad one, although with that much time I'd probably become good!) Also, traveling and eating at nice places... I could make a buck or two writing a blog about it :)

Off-road instructor (with Land Rovers of couse, not these bloated American things). Hell I'd do it if I wasn't payed $2,000,000 a year, I find you get much more of a thrill out of accomplishing stuff off-road than driving at high speed. In fact there's a true story from a friend who used to live near (I think it was Nigel Mansel), he said he'd thought driving F1 was the ultimate experience you could get in a vehicle, until he was let loose in a tractor in a ploughed field. He said he'd never experienced such acceleration, think about it, in mud with >1" tread think of the traction those tyres get. Now compare the gearing rations of an F1 car to that of a tractor: F1 six or is it seven? gears to go from 0 to 200mph, a tractor: (ours, an old 40hp one, as an example) 24 gears for 0-30mph. Now factor in the power of modern tractors (>100hp in many large ones) or even 500+[^] hp.

I'd be happy just being a full time dad right now. I could probably only handle 15-20 years of it, but it would rock. I already pass up higher paying more exciting jobs right now because they would take me away from the little one.

I want to be an arms dealer, but I don't want to have to sell anything larger than a sniper rfile because of the storage requirements of larger and more impressive munitions, like LAWS rockets and tanks.
