Flame me as well as I couldn't agree more. Granted I've only been a member here for about 111 months but I try to not post anything unless I actually have something to say or a valid question (programming question = proper forum, general question = Lounge). When I first joined this community it wasn't this bad so it's really started in the past 11 months and it really gets frustrating logging in every morning and finding massive amounts of posts from Satips(sp) and the like which link to news stories, if all I wanted to do was read new stories I'd go to MSNBC.Com, FoxNews.Com or the like. If you find the news story interesting then post why and your thoughts on it, not just a link with a damn smiley face. [rant] Now I know I'm more than likely going to get "flamed" over this, maybe simply because I have only been a member for 11 months, but I don't recall reading anywhere that you had to be a LONG term member to have an opinion, or to have a certain post total to get frustrated with certain things that are happening here. For the most part this is by far my favorite community on the Internet, I think the "owners" of CodeProject have done a fabulous job with this community, but it is indeed getting real frustrating the way certain people are flooding the forums with useless bulls**t links to useless bulls**t news stories and the "Plz help me nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww" and "I nd a programz to do this" type of posts. [/rant]

I'm glad finally somebody brought this subject up. And I agree with Marc. If Satips had any respect for this community he should had reply to this thread.

Mates, I'm going nuts over the posts of people like suckTips & Vasud..(A name as lengthy as a permalink URL). a Gem Sample[^]. Do we need messages like this?? The severity of that is the wild spreading of sucktips epidemic. More and more people's messages are starting to look like the above two's. That's very clear that both of these people's intention is to make a message_count++. (I wish we have a resetMsgCount() function enabled on their profiles.) Both of you listen, When you are about to post something, just make a stop and see if it's going to interest atleast some of the Loungers here. [Satips, dont count on Vasud..& vice versa. It's not appicable, Both of your message is going to interest each other. It doesn't count. loungers means THE geniune Loungers] Ok, it's not too late. Let's stop with these two. The idea is to remove any Juicy, fruity-way-to-Louge-Hyperlink that's taking these people to the lounge. and we all know the secret door(URL) to get into the Lounge. So let's use it and atleast it needs to be implemented for a while. It's just like the creatures getting out of the hell & landing up on earth.(just like we saw in "Hell Boy". Sucktips & Vasud the hellBoys. They're enough & no more creatures needed to spoil the sanity of the Lounge. Let's lock it and let the Lounger's live happily. :-D. Ofcourse, this is just a rant. Just for fun. Byebye. Long live Loungers!

We've had other characters behave the same in the past (ie Bill sergio, The Infomercial King, Grand Nagus (sp), etc.). They eventually tire and go somewhere else.

It seems that some people might be viewing high message count/article posting as the way to get MVP status. At the start of the year, we had somebody who only posted about a dozen times but created a second account to 5 vote every post (even ones that just consisted of smileys) just so they could get MVP status. Is the solution to change the way that MVPs are chosen? Perhaps MVPs could be nominated by their peers (the way that MS does) and then Chris and co could choose who the MVPs were going to be out of that.

and in the case of GN, sometimes return, then retire, and return, and retire. I'd say like a scratch on a record, but people are already forgetting record skips. :)

Personally, I think Code Project would be a better place if the entire content of India were blocked. Flame away folks! hahahaha. For fear of encouraging the wrath of one of the 'respected' CPIans, I bleated on about the quality of the lounge a while ago - view your comments to my post. The Lounge Isn't What it used to be[^] You gave me a 1. Smacks a little of hypocrisy. I gave you a 5 for your Indian comment. Not that I think they should all be banned, but it seems all the ones that should be banned are Indian. I agree with the 'ignore' user option - but the user should be advised how many people are 'ignoring' him.

No. I've thought about adding it before...but as it is right now, that'd be a nightmare to implement.
