Evolution of versions Windows. From 1.0 to Vista I noticed they left out Windows ME. Everyone I know who used it before said it was possibly the worst OS ever. I've used it for many years and am using XP now and I've never noticed anything wrong with ME. Is there really something wrong or is it just me. (no pun intended)

Uff. Me. I remember, it stayed in my PC for 1 day. The first thing I faced, I clicked one folder and its got hanged and I had to restart . 98 was far far better stable than ME.

Cool link, I remember every version listed on that site as I used them all (in fact I still have all of them either on floppy (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1 & 3.11) or CD (windows 95 - Windows Vista), except ME, which is the basta*d child of ALL OS's past, present & future. ME was the most god awful OS I've ever seen or used, in fact it was so bad I went back to Windows 98 within like 2 days of using it.

Hmm..out of the Microsoft OS's I'd have to say that Windows for Workgroups 3.11 sucked pretty badly if you were a network tech who was supposed to get it all working together.

But I don't think ME was all that bad despite what a lot of people say. System Restore saved me on more than one occassion.

            Cheers, Vıkram.

Everything  It's hard to say, really. Everyone was waiting for the NT-Kernel based bigger and better future, and ME came along with no real plan, a failed attempt to be shiny on the outside but still sitting on the webbed Win98 feet.

Dead simple: Windows ME, being the Mistake Edition, was simply not included in the list of the, ahem, non-mistake editions.

There's another site somewhere where they did include ME.

I've heard others say that 3.11 was pretty solid.

Given good enough gloves, you can hold molten iron. Still doesn't make molten iron a good thing to hold, IMHO. ;P

They probably never had to network it together and keep it running for companies. I used to have to set it up for many different companies who used it for their internal network. It took over from Lantastic at many sites and was tricky to keep up and running. As an operating system for stand alone use it was probably alright, but as a network it sucked much worse than lantastic or netware at the time but people asked for it because of marketing. This was also the days of shared faxing servers and shared print servers and other various hardware and software coming into the market for small business and it was a bitch to get them to work with 3.11. It came with an email and various other lan client sharing software that we spent a lot of time troubleshooting. It was the one and only time in my entire computer related career that I ever phoned Microsoft for technical support.

They also left out Microsoft Bob, which to me was the worst OS ever.
