The signal to noise ratio *has* got very bad in the lounge recently, enough to drive me away more and more, but the ongoing discussions about the few anti social miscreants posting here recently are driving me completely bonkers. What the hell is wrong with you people? You are doing everything conceivably possible to encourage the crap posters. Stop responding to them, stop yelling at them, above all stop discussing them. Quit moaning about how crappy the lounge has got recently and just do something about it: encourage a good forum by completely and utterly ignoring the posts you find annoying like they never existed. They should be dead to you. This is online forum 101 people, it's one of the first and most fundamental rules of participating in an online discussion, right after the don't type all in caps rule. Leave it to a bunch of geeks to spend a lot of energy thinking up programming solutions to a problem that has a simple solution that literally involves you doing nothing at all about it. Ignore those posters and they will dry up and blow away. You're all on notice. :)

I agree, there are a few (Satips) people spoiling the lounge and other forums, but thats the price of popularity.

I also think that we of the "old" guard must try and keep posting relevant stuff to try and flip the ratio, e.g. yesterday I posted two topics in a row something I don't normally do (I like to leave a gap between them), but at least it provided a short return to normality. :sigh:

I agree. A brief review post makes an interesting read. A quick hyperlink of a news post does peppers up but when there is too much of pepper to make it spicy, it is not good for health either.

yeah, i agree with you there, more so with programming related posts on the lounge all it takes is one person (thats all) to say wrong forum go to >URL< however i do like joke posts (helps to turn the debugging frown up side down) the news articles, can go unless its really interesting like something relating to articles/topics on CP something like 'Microsoft cancel support for .NET' lol i have an rss feed for everything less :) a good programming solution... (as im a programmer) stop posts being counted in the lounge, soup box (the none programming forums) but that may just kill the forums :| good post :)

Norm, just let it go. These people never learn. Never feel the true spirit of 'Lounge'. Ignore them. They and their posts will die oneday.

If you guys haven't figure this out yet, it is all about you 2 guys (maybe more but now atleast you 2 guys) Few things you should know though this may be rude. 1) People here don't like your posts (too childish) 2) You guys posts too much and most of the time useless information. 3) Vasudevan: You have posted many articles and most of them are rated below 2, I think you should get the clue that you need to improve your article content or stop writing them. 4) If you are thinking of having a post count of 17k or 20k, don't think about it, people here can not handle that many posts from You guys under current situation. 5) You are stereotyping all Indians, I have never seen too many anti-indian posts in lounge till recently. What you can do 1) change your nick. 2) concentrate on your work. 3) keep out of lounge. 4) Never reply a post with just a smily.
