Very good choice, but I fear that even John and Tox would not have enough patience in this case.

Hey how about this idea.. http://www.codeproject.com/lounge2.asp  We'd silently move to this one? leaving this place for bots & spams to happily live here? [Satips whispers]Yeahhh.. we'll silently move [/Satips whispers] OMG! I've grasped the satips jokes too much. Need to get rid of it :sigh:

I've just noticed in VDK[^]s profile that he's been programming since he was 1994 when he was 15.  Yet his date of birth says that he was born in 1977, thereby proving that he can't do simple mathematics, let alone program.

Yeah that's because the bot was not programmed to handle the Y2K bug?:~

If you guys haven't figure this out yet, it is all about you 2 guys (maybe more but now atleast you 2 guys) Few things you should know though this may be rude. 1) People here don't like your posts (too childish) 2) You guys posts too much and most of the time useless information. 3) Vasudevan: You have posted many articles and most of them are rated below 2, I think you should get the clue that you need to improve your article content or stop writing them. 4) If you are thinking of having a post count of 17k or 20k, don't think about it, people here can not handle that many posts from You guys under current situation. 5) You are stereotyping all Indians, I have never seen too many anti-indian posts in lounge till recently. What you can do 1) change your nick. 2) concentrate on your work. 3) keep out of lounge. 4) Never reply a post with just a smily.

I just hope these people do stop, it is getting really irritating. As suggested by someone, the Code Project MVP selection should be changed to the same way Microsoft selects them, hold a discussion at the end of the year with the current MVP's to find out who should be given the status.

The signal to noise ratio *has* got very bad in the lounge recently, enough to drive me away more and more, but the ongoing discussions about the few anti social miscreants posting here recently are driving me completely bonkers. What the hell is wrong with you people? You are doing everything conceivably possible to encourage the crap posters. Stop responding to them, stop yelling at them, above all stop discussing them. Quit moaning about how crappy the lounge has got recently and just do something about it: encourage a good forum by completely and utterly ignoring the posts you find annoying like they never existed. They should be dead to you. This is online forum 101 people, it's one of the first and most fundamental rules of participating in an online discussion, right after the don't type all in caps rule. Leave it to a bunch of geeks to spend a lot of energy thinking up programming solutions to a problem that has a simple solution that literally involves you doing nothing at all about it. Ignore those posters and they will dry up and blow away. You're all on notice. :)

Shut the lounge down and open it in a few months under new management, this time hire some bouncers.

CP MVP is based on the average score of posts in programming forums and articles. The off topic forums don't count towards it at all.

-- You have to explain to them [VB coders] what you mean by "typed". their first response is likely to be something like, "Of course my code is typed. Do you think i magically project it onto the screen with the power of my mind?" --- John Simmons / outlaw programmer

Yeah I know that, if you have seen few of his replies on the programming forums, you would know what I mean. He is trying to increase his message count as well as get the MVP status I guess. He just copy paste stuff without a link to where he picked it from and even that is not relevant to the question asked.

I've set the "Message score threshold" to 1.0.. that's the oxygen mask for the moment. Too much of noise without that.:wtf:

Sadly it's a useless feature with the advent of the Univoter, you miss a lot of good stuff right now if you're doing that.

Sure but it only takes one person to reply once. And people need to make use of the abuse and inappropriate links and just not reply at all to some of the other posts when it makes sense to do that.
