Can you blame them? If they take the booze with them to the space station, the Russians are just gonna drink it all, and that stuffs expensive!

So what? If they don't the russians will find a way to make some boozerific stuff from "not so vital" parts.

Well, let's face it, if you were going to be shot into space a top a huge explosive, would you want to do it sober? :)

Nope. I'd have to have a few beers myself...

That's sad. Used to be astronauts were the hero's of kids. Now they're drunk and arrested for attempted murder. X| Marc

Wow - brings me back to my college days in the early '70s - Tang (the drink of the astronauts) and grain.

So true, they really were "The Incredibles". Chilling to read the gruesome inventory Lisa Nowak had on her person when approached by police - CO2 BB pistol, steel mallet, 4" folding knife, rubber tubing, plastic garbage bags...

Almost makes them appear human. :~ I met Hopalong Casidy when I was a boy. Talk about bigger than life. I still remember it and that was well over 50 years ago.

Hope you weren't flying at the time. Well at least not driving. :~

It's all the fault of Star Trek. Alcohol played a big part in those missions. Remember James T Kirk demanding Saurian Brandy and the inspiring Scotty and his collection of whisky. Even the inventor of the warp drive, Zephram Copchrane, always appeared to be drunk. What do you think Yeoman Rand was doing with that clipboard on the bridge? ...last orders, please? Make mine a Blood Wine...

How did they find out? I mean it must be near impossible to walk that white line in zero G when your sober let alone drunk ;)

But at least they had competent software to steer their ship. Lilith

Funny side: - I'll bet NASA's insurance rates go up - What's the penalty for drunk piloting (depends on what country they're over) - Their personal trainer said they wanted to see them with a "six-pack" - Red button, green button, they all look the same when you're drunk - Can they run dog fights and bet on NBA games in space? Serious side: - Many other lives at stake - Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars at stake - Future of shuttle missions, funding, and credibility at stake - So many people want to be astronauts, why not let somebody sober fly? I can't think of a time when I would want to be more sober than when going into orbit at 17,000 miles per hour (or more). Besides, I would want to remember every second of it for the rest of my life. Nevermind my crewmates that rely on my decision-making ability to stay alive.
