Would you prefer there were no dissenting voices?

There is a marked difference between healthy 'dissenting voices' and a media outlet directly connected to a terror organisation that repeatedly airs incitements to violence that make Die Sturmer look pro Jewish.

So all people in the middle east are now Islamists, have you succumbed to the propaganda?

What propaganda? You barely find the word used in much of the UK media. And no, I don't think the 'whole of the middle east' are Islamists. Far from it, and the recent pew global attitudes survey that shows greatly reduced support for suicide attacks on civilians pretty much everywhere in the Islamic world except Palestine is heartening.

"If only one of the truths mentioned in that article lodge in some thickhead I'll be happy." Not likely here but worth a try. -- modified at 5:32 Friday 27th July, 2007 On a related note the latest media lens is worth a read http://medialens.org/

Aye, someone (I think it was CG) posted a few days ago how he was reading Chomsky and wondered where the intellectual debate coming from the right was, I wish I'd jumped in and said that The Soapbox was about as good as it gets

The craven liberal campaign against the first real hope for the poor of Vene zuela is a striking example.:laugh::laugh::laugh: :~ Sorry, I couldn't make it past that. Wow, you guys really are nuts.

And my response to the premise that the media is controlled by a nefarious, corporate controlled, spin machine designed to promote global capitalism at the expense of struggling social movements around the world is ----- Thank God, I hope it works.

Well whilst you enjoy your weekend, and I hope you do, spare a thought as to why exactly we have a weekend, it was a "struggling social movement" of my forefathers.

Not quite true. The vast majority of Americans have always had sundays off thanks to Christianity. Saturdays were finally included so that people could have more time to spend their money - thanks to capitalism. Nothing to do with socialism at all.

And the vast majority of Jews have refrained from work on the Sabbath for centuries.

Pilger is a ranting lunatic --- he jumps from one thing to another with absolutely no transition. You call this "journalism"??
