The alarm clock on my Nokia N80 can only be set to go off once, thereafter I have to set it again. Kinda like those old analog bed-side alarm clock's switches you have to pull out so that it's set to go off the next morning. I don not want to download any software because they're never free and seldom work or install correctly. If it's not too much of a mission I would like to have a go at creating my own alarm clock. But I have no idea where to start. The software must be S60 compatible and be able to run in the background. As far as I know, the end result should be an installable .sis file. I got some ideas from Google, but if anyone here has any experience and some good free resources, it will be very cool!

At least in India, they are pretty costly. You also get all sorts of illegal software. You have to be careful on what the service center guy does to your mobile.

If I am not mistaken the nokia phones run on Symbian. Try a quick google search for "symbian sdk" to get started.

Only the business phones do. The name of the default OS escapes me.

I’m going through a similar exercise for my older model of Nokia phone. I want to write my own phone book to allow me to categorize my contacts rather than the flat file approach. I haven’t had a lot of time to do this, but here’s what I've found.(for my S40 compatible phone): The Nokia site is a great resource. If you haven’t already done so, for your model of phone check out http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/N80 You can download IDEs (Java or C++, not C#) and a number of other tools. I need a rather expensive (~$30) cable to allow me to directly upload programs from my computer to my phone. An alternate is to upload any program to a website and then download from this site to my phone (I don’t have handy any specific website where you can do this). -Jay

Really? My nokia 6682 runs symbian I didn't think it was considered a business phone. -Edit: Ahh, it seems you are correct. Just taking a quick look here[^] spells it out for me. And, to think I only went with this model because it takes one hell of a beating. -- modified at 11:55 Friday 27th July, 2007
