Don't know how many bridges colapse in a given year but seeing it happen in your area (esp when it's a bridge you take fairly often) is very troubling. With respect, I must disagree. A quick look at middle management in just about any corporation shows that the dodo not only survived, it's reproducing in record numbers. Christopher Duncan

I know Judah lives in the Twin Cities. 35W is a very busy interstate pretty much all day. -- modified at 21:03 Wednesday 1st August, 2007 Just got off the phone with my mother in law. My brother in law goes to med school at U of M and had he been in the country he might have been on that road at that time. (He's in Ecuador doing volunteer medical care.) My husband's step-sister and her family are also okay. Found out that tonight is a Twins game at home. Guess what is the main road to the Metrodome. This is so awful.

That's putting it lightly. It colapsed in the middle of rush hour. Great, adverse weather is moving into the area.

Sounds like they are asking people to stay at the Dome, till something can be figured out. That bridge is about a mile from the Dome so yea its the primary bridge in that area.

It's awful! :(( I heard about it before there was anything about it on the 'net, from a friend who lives in the area... she was really upset and in shock. :( My sympathies for the victims and their families! :rose:

The pictures on my local news station are showing an incredible amount of damage but haven't provided a lot of details yet. Thoughts and prayers to all who have been (or will be) affected by this tragedy.

Hi leckey I'm OK, thanks. I was on I35W when it happened, about 20 miles south of the bridge collapse. My brother crossed the bridge less than an hour before it collapsed. My condolences and prayers to the families of folks hurt in this tragedy.

Glad your brother wasn't on the bridge.

Another Twin cities CPian here. So far everyone I know is ok. Still waiting to hear from some folks at my old employer, but most of them would have been in the area before 6pm.
