Dell Latitude D630 and Vista x64
-
I got a new notebook, dell latitude D630 with a T7700 CPU and 4GB of ram. The machine is great, very fast and it runs 3 hours on battery, which is a good thing when I travel by train. However, 32 bits windows doesn't allow me to use the full amount of RAM, so I installed the 64 bits edition. It started out giving me blue screens, crashes etc. But after tweaking around a bit I finally got it to work. My tip for all of you out there that have a similar machine, is to download video drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/[^] The nvidia site didn't have my Quadro NVS 135M drivers and the ones from dell suck big time. Finally I can kick this machine's ass ;P

Doesn't that violate the warranty?

Yeah, but it was a Dell warranty to begin with, so there. I have no experience with dell products and warranty claims whatsoever
We are a big screwed up dysfunctional psychotic happy family - some more screwed up, others more happy, but everybody's psychotic joint venture definition of CP

You can still see all your RAM, you just need to add /PAE to the boot.ini.
