Here's a question you will probably never see on the weekly poll that Chris does: I wake up this morning and realize I forgot once again to wash my work shirts in the laundry. So I need a work shirt to wear today which option would you choose? A) A ten year old work shirt, clean, still in one piece, but not exactly in style. B) A dirty, already worn once, work shirt that is newer more in style. C) Go to a store and buy one. D) Nothing you work from home, so there is no need for a work shirt. So what would you choose and why? Ben

Be sick over your shirt. The smell of vomit will hide any hint of BO.

Yes the sniff test. An already worn once shirt is ok if it passes the sniff test. The problem is my nose doesn't smell all that well. So what might smell ok to me, might not to someone else. Ben

I'm one of those who makes sure the night before that I have clothes ready. My hubby not so much. In those occasions he'll take a dirty shirt, spray with Febreeze and re-iron.

Style? to a geek? I wear a company logo polo shirt or dress shirt when VIPs tour. Outside of 24hour notice to wear anything specific, all bets are off. My wife does not like my Hawaiian shirts, but then, she doesn't have to wear them. ;) I always have something ancient, somewhere, or out of season (a long sleeve shirt ugh...). And I can actually wear a T-shirt, so a bit of advantage. IF, and I do mean "if", it were ever to come down to the end of my shirts. You can take Leckey's idea one step farther. Fabreeze lightly and a quick dry in the dryer. They also make quick-fresh towlettes for the dryer, if this is a reoccurring problem, buy a box, toss one in the dryer with the shirt for 5 minutes.

I did decide on A), because like you said as a geek I am not too worried about what I look like. It is Friday and I am not going to be on the client site, so I don't think anyone will notice. Of course, if some new prospective clients come in today, it might be a little embarrassing, but it is Friday so we will see what happens. Ben

Wear a jacket over the shirt, doesn’t matter where it’s out of style or dirty. Have you ever heard of an Indian dress called chudidhar? It has a shawl sort of thing called dupatta, which we can wrap anyway we want to. You can hide anything under it. Very useful I tell you. :-D

Ben

The sticky wall test is all that matters; throw at a wall, if it sticks don't wear it. Otherwise, wear it. (I'd go with A. Rather be comfortable, clean and unstylish than uncomfortable, dirty and stylish. Got a job to do and it isn't Male Model or Clothes Horse.)
