Sorry, I only know the dubbed version...

Mine, too. If I recall it correctly, the German version was "Organische Säcke, mit Wasser gefüllt".

Ah yes.. I believe the correct English version is "Ugly carbon based bags of mostly water" (or possibly "Ugly organic bags of mostly water"). I have not watched Star Trek dubbed in German. I have however seen ep 4 to 6 in German. Back in the days when I was getting Sat-1 satellite programs. :-D

I Love this bit: "When these things are created, they're going to be so weak, it'll be a huge achievement if you can keep them alive for an hour in the lab," he said. "But them getting out and taking over, never in our imagination could this happen." Talk about mindless optimism. Well I sure as hell hope he's right!

Five bucks says I buy a paper in 15 years and it has the same headline....

You think there a newspapers in 15 years? Only for old farts like us, and they will be sold in specialty shoppes, where nothing is under $100.

Artificial life. Oxymoron?

Okay, that's it. Why the hell did this get a 1? (Just gave a 5 for balance) It's a pointer to an article that is probably quite interesting to a lot of people here and if it isn't tell us why an article gets a 1. Time to have some new posting rules: 1: Not voting rights if a member less than 6 months and/or less than 50 posts (that have not been reported as spam or abuse). 2: No voting wihtout a message: if the message is less than n characters it gets deleted. If it is just a bunch of letters it gets reported and deleted. It is just getting my goat that there are so many childish spoilers around that are going to push people away with their pathetic antics. GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kong mad: Kong find: Kong kill...

George, George, George of the jungle, strong as he can be.... ;) Always be prepared for the single one vote. If it has enough 1 votes to grey it, maybe I would ask some more. Beyond that I think everyone here has got at least one 1 vote, and many probably more. :)

In theory, I don't disagree, but in practice, I find it easier to decide that votes on a website, even my favourite website, are not going to change my life. I like it when I make people laugh enough to get a few 5s, don't get me wrong. I also don't mind getting a 1, if people tell me why, if it's because they don't like my answer in a programming forum, or because they disagree with me in the soapbox. But when I see random 1s flying around, I disregard it entirely. Last I heard, my payscale, my success, and my happiness are not indexed to my average vote score here, or anywhere else.

Right, is it life or isn't it?
