To shave or not to shave that is the question...

Ok it is Monday. I opted not to shave and I wore jeans into work today. I was pretty sure I wouldn't be seeing any clients. Well, I was wrong. Looks like a client is going to show up today after lunch. It is for a very short one week part time deal. I am thinking I better go home over lunch shave and put some nicer cloths on. You know the old saying, "You never have a second chance to make a very good first impression." What's your opinion?
depends on the client.. if its the first time your meeting i defo would go home and have a shave and change of cloths. it shows you care ;) if its an old client you know well then you will know if its acceptable. nothing wrong with being smart everyday thats what weekends are for to let it all go :-D

Is that why I have a razor in the filing cabinet? I never know when a client is going to show up, but luckily we are pretty relaxed on dress code. But for the forgettory (as apposed to a memory) that I have, there is a travel kit in the filing cabinet in case I do forget to shave.

I wear ankle socks and sneakers everyday except the days I wear cowboy boots. Shaving is optional ( I look better rough), sometimes my hair desperately needs cutting, but, amazingly, my pants and shirts are always freshly pressed.

It is a new client, that is why I am thinking of going home even though it is for a very small project. Ben

While I do not meet clients anymore, I have an emergency kit of tooth care, pit stick, hairbrush, etc. Since your drive is short you may as well change. If it was a longer drive I would say no.

As does clothing. But seriously, remember that the "managers" wear suits and are well groomed; I doubt you want to be mistaken for one of "them". The less presentable the programmer, the better the code. Forget shaving, add an aluminum hat to your outfit.

That is kind what I was thinking. Might was well make the best impression I can even if it is just going to be a short small project. You never know when the future will hold. Ben

As I mentioned in my post, I am planning on going home and such. I was just curious as to what other people thought, since it is a very small project. The whole thing came up, because for a split second I thought what if I didn't shave and change cloths? As it is I will be leaving in like 10 minutes. When things are slow at work it is enjoyable to discuss things with others. That is what the forum post is about. Ben
