Hi, I am planning to buy an entry level car and my choices are the Santro, Indica XETA and the WagonR. Of the above three, I have eliminated the WagonR because I just didn't like the shape. Now between the Santro and the Indica XETA, which one is better? Santro is goooooood but the Indica has loads of space and people tell me it more sturdier than the Santro. On the second hand, the Santro's engine seems far more superior than the Indica's. Can I have your personal experiences please? :)

Congrats. :) I think you should go for Santro. Though I am very young and don't own any of the cars that you mentioned, I know a bit about these cars. My father had the same options (as either Indica or Santro) while he was to purchase a car some 5 years ago. We almost decided to take santro, but since we have a big family (of 7 members), we purchased Maruthi van (i.e, Maruthi OMNI). I am very impressed with Santro. Its much superior than Indica not just in terms of engine, but in most of the other aspects aswell( like better mileage, less noise, and so on...).

Regards, Vijay. God may not give us what we 'want', but he surely gives us what we 'need'.

I'm curious to know how you know about the Ambassador. Anyway, the model is used only by politicians, old farts, and taxi fleet owners :) I don't think any self-respecting person under 40 would buy a new one.

              Cheers, Vıkram.

Actually no. The ambassador is legendary for it sturdiness. Why do you think the government is providing this car for politicians? Do you think it is cheap? Actually not! I have seen it surviving accidents which most other cars won't. Most of the travel agencies would have four or five of this thing. The car is rock solid man! It has an extremely old history. Ask an ambassador owner and he'll definitely have a story to tell.

With Wagon R, you will get promised service, no matter where you take it in India, because of the extremely strong Maruti servicing network. From my experience, I would suggest you to take the Santro. Indica does not look like a good option. Santro's engine is far more advanced and is a good deal for the money that you pay.

Politicians are self-respecting people? :wtf: Seriously, I said only politicians (for prestige), old people (sentimentality) and taxi fleet owners (seating capacity) prefer it. I'm yet to see anybody in IT, IBK or the like buying an Ambassador.

No, I didn't mean that. And buying the car, I was talking about people at urban areas. These days, the car has lost its market share due to the arrival of the new ones. I must agree that I won't buy it either. :-D
